Still needs work, but, and I'm not entirely sure if it's exactly what "Chief Instructor " meant by dancing on the pedals as if they're hot coals but, I've found waggling the rudder back and forth right from the get go, almost, if not quite imperceptibly, and then as obvious swing starts to develop, stabs on the opproriate pedal, still continuously waggling though, work wonders both for take offs and landing roll outs. My rigger is far happier now that I don't need all those extra wing tips that the manufacturers kindly supplied with each aircraft. Not only that but I can even be trusted to take the aircraft around for another circuit without having to constantly hit "Re-fly". :joystick:

My only problem (relative) is remembering to stop waggling the rudder pedals back and forth once I'm in the air.

Hope it helps.

Oh well!

Maybe it's just a quirk of my controller setup then although I thought it might be useful for anyone who constantly finds themselves ground looping or dragging a wing tip.

I agree... I'd add the use of brakes when speed drops below 60 or so during the landing rollout

Check out my 'real world'

video series

I did over 50 landings yesterday and I am still banging wingtips...... I also found dancing to work when taking off. I love taxing the spit. It feels like a real tail dragger.

I have plenty of real world time in champs and citrabia. Good thing I have not banged wingtips on them.

I actually had no real big issues with takeoff. I have yet to crash and burn. I've damaged the plane once or twice but have found takeoffs to be pretty easy for me.

Landings have however been a real challenge. I had always scraped wingtips shortly after touchdown. This morning however, I managed 2 in a row without incident. The key for me was the speed (60-70 mph) and holding the stick back to keep the nose up while I tap the brakes. So now that I got the technique, I'll just keep improving on it.

The trick to a new module like this or the 109 is that you really have to find a feel that works for you. Others can tell you all day long about what to do but until you get that certain feel in your own landings or whatever, you'll struggle with it. It all comes down to repetition I think. I struggled with the 109 for a long time even after watching videos, and getting advice from lots of people. But it wasn't until I could start to feel the plane doing the right thing that I got it right. I know that if I had not mastered the 109, I would be struggling with the Spitfire much more than I have been.

Are you pumping the rudder pedal back and forth right from the get go, even if there appears to no need for any rudder Input at all ?

I think the problems that I encountered previously were all from waiting for something to start happening and then reacting to that by which time it was too late. Pumping the rudder back and forth from the get go and then adding extra to one side or the other as neccesarily has stopped me from regularly grounding a wing tip on landing. I land with far more confidence of success .

Yep. Pumping works even if your needle is centered. It works for T/O for me but not landing. Ill keep trying though
