Davee Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Aircraft identity lettering left and right side does not match in supplied missions and also missions created in the Mission Editor. See pics below: Left Side ID.jpg Right Side ID.jpg Edited December 22, 2016 by Catseye NOT A BUG
Art-J Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Not sure what You mean. If it's about the squadron markings, they're being displayed rather correctly - on RAF Spits and Hurris the two-letter squadron code was by default painted on the nose side of the roundel, while the individual plane letter was painted on the tail side of the roundel. Well, it wasn't a strict rule, one could paint them in reversed order on both sides, but what we see in DCS complies with the most popular scheme for Europen-based Spits. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
jocko417 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) edit - Art-J answered first, but to add: RAF/Commonwealth aircraft were marked with (usually) a two letter squadron ID code, plus a single letter for the particular aircraft. Sometimes the code letters were read "left to right" on both sides of the aircraft, and sometimes the two letter squadron code was painted in front of the fuselage nationality marking on both sides. ED has decided to do the "front to back" arrangement with this model. ie: Left side Right side Versus: So in the top example, we have aircraft "F" from 611 Sqdn, RAF (FY code), and in the bottom example, the code letters AE-A identifies aircraft "A" from 402 Sqdn, RCAF (AE code)... Davee Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 I did not know that! I assumed that they were read left to right both sides in all cases and not in just some cases. OK - the devs have chosen the most common method so this is NOT a bug. Rather than delete this from the bugs category, I will leave it in case others have the same concerns - but I will change the title. Thanks guys, Cheers
jocko417 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) When I was a kid I made a plastic model of that 611 Sqn Spit. Of course I didn't get why it read "FYF" on one side and "FFY" on the other. Was a while before I learned about squadron code letters :) Edited December 21, 2016 by jocko417 spelling
