VVanks Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Now I love all this effort going into new models, but some of them have just a little too much detail. I'm hoping for an increase in quality of the models in lockon but not a very large decrease in FPS. Some of these models have DOOM 3 like pilot models (look at that F-15 one). They look great, but since you barely even see the pilot, why go so far for so little result? So example, I see the great amount of detail going into the landing gear, but how much FPS is lost when you deploy them? Well, I'm just voicing my concern for these potentially great looking models that not many people can use if they are way too detailed. So modelers, please remember not to go overboard on the polygon count. Keep on modelling! Homepage: http://www.worldwynd.net Coming Soon: http://www.simplywyn.com
Black_Hawk Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 They won't go overboard with the poly count, don't worry :pilotfly: 159th GAR LockOnFiles CAW Team
Pilotasso Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 As long as LOD are implemented both the pilot and the landing gear are only computed when you are practicaly on top of them anyway. Ground objects management and debris is what is murdering the FPS for me. .

Guest Hell Sqn Protos Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 S~! Dumbing sims down is NEVER the answer. Go Hard or Go Home.
ALDEGA Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/240552/SID/274412/blFP/1 Just 1 million polygons! Too much? :D
AJ.eightFive Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Go hog wild with the poly's I say. Its easier to start with a high poly mode and scale it down later as an alternate release. If I'm going to be replacing models I want it to be worth it. I don't see the point in anyone wasting their time releasing a model that's only marginally improved. I think the 25T should set the lower limit of model quality.
33rd_bratpfanne. Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I second that, go for the polys! They dont limit lomac. Its many objects that stress the CPU ! S! Brati "Helicopters can't fly; they're just so ugly the earth repels them." (THX Rich  )
Disso Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 There's NO such thing as too much detail! Go wild and scale down from there, that's what LOD's are for! SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.
