I was thinking "why didn't the developers just add these "updated" templates with the update? rather than make us place them in the DCS folder?

I finally bothered to track down the original announcement:

DEC 16 2016 the Developers said:"

"We uploaded the new layered PSD templates that you can use to create your own textures for F-86F, MiG-15bis, Su-24M, Su-24MR and Su-33 models.

Also C-101 template for creating textures was updated by AvioDev.

You can find them all in our Texture templates DCS site section"

Here I RACKING my brain trying to figure out how the heck I was going to install these "

NEW" textures thinking they were some "UPDATED" view of the planes.!!!

It would be nice if these files came with a quick "README" file so I didn't do that , thinking something it isn't .....

When others download a map, Campaign, mission ect , I look for a readme file that says"

DCS WORLD:/A: put the file/in/ here/

example, but it never happens......

It would be so quick to do, and wouldn't muddle up the forums with Dumb questions!!!!

In closing: If we are going to have a download section, and you place your download in the files to be downloaded be others ( because you wanted to share your awesome creation)

Why not include a quick note "README" file!!!! ??????????????????????????

Thanks

... layered PSD templates ...

All the readme I needed. A quick lookup of "psd tempate" would tell you what these files are. :smartass:

Of course a readme is never wrong, either.

Honestly the easiest way to learn how to name files, place files is to look how ED does it, and then download a few skin mods from the user files to see how they do it. The path has already been blazed for you, just follow it.
