Any of you boys know how to make a desktop icon?

I want to make a personal desktop icon for Lock On and several other programs but I don't exactly know how through adobe photoshop cs2. Using an example of another desktop icon, i can see that even though its small, the original size is 250x250 pixels. I just don't know how to make one that has a transparent background and has a horizontal/vertical resoltion of 96 dpi, bit depth 32, frame count 1...etc. I don't even see an option in Adobe to save it as a icon file.

oh, so it can't be done in photoshop like with plugins..etc?

I'll look around. I had a little program for that too.

 

You can use photoshop afaik....but then you import it to the little program to actually make it an icon or soemthing like that.

There's a free program called "the Gimp" that lets you save files as .ico format.

The interface takes some getting used to, but it is quite powerful.

Thanks Lazer, you pointed me in the right direction. I found a plugin for photoshop to make .ico files
