Dugong Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) Just discovered another big problem with the ASP. I've been adjusting the sound files as i've always felt the missile lock tone is a bit on the quiet side and hard to hear over the cockpit noise, especially if you don't like to use hear like in helmet. I replaced the stock sound files with a couple of really loud, annoying and distinctive reference tones so i could tell which sound file was which, and it's become clear that there is no seeker tone playing at all, only a lock tone. If this were modelled realistically we should here the seeker 'grumble' style tone and then a lock tone when the seeker head has picked up a target, much like the F-86. some1 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Yes, there should be background noise signal: Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro

Frederf Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Yes the tone from the missiles (IR for sure and possibly SAR) should smoothly increase in audio feedback based on strength of signal. IR missiles should have some kind of tone even when seeing the environment. This is why the missile employment section of the manuals talks about "find the highest strength of tone." It's no binary.

Tarres Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 It has been reported in the bugtracker since the beginning. Marked as resolved but I think that it isn't implemented. The sound that we have is the "searching tone", that it actives when the seeker is enabled. I hope that in a future update we have the corrected sounds.
Schmidtfire Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 That changing tone might be correct for older missiles, like R-3S and R-13 without cooled seekers. But R-60M might have the correct tone? Just watch some in-cockpit videos of R-73 live fire and there is only a tone when locked on, much like in DCS Su-27 and MiG-29: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xx1xI2YJoY
