Leviathanosaurus Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 hey people. first of all i've searched this matter for days now but only could find a reddit topic of a guy asking the same question with no answer. i'm playing on VR mode. got an old i5 3570k, rx 480 and 8 gigs of ram and while flying in rural areas it's quite a joy, urban areas are a pain coming from under. i'm using the lowest possible settings but those thousands of objects probably bottleneck my cpu and cause juddering. so is there any way to remove those buildings? i know it'll kill the immersion but it will better be than not being able to play at all.
milit Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I don't use VR, but researched buildings' problem too. My variant is to set visibility to Extra, then go into graphics.lua and reduce buildings' range in [Extra] section as desired. It is the second numder in brackets. baltic_dragon Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 My first reaction was "with GBU-10s", which I know would not be constructive. Glad that you got a serious answer too. I just connected my rift today and will se what problems I encounter... Hope you solve your problem! For more information, please visit my website. Leviathanosaurus Posted February 27, 2017 Author Posted February 27, 2017 @milit im playin with low seleceted as visibility range so i beleive i should have edited these lines: Camera = { Low = { near_clip = 0.02; far_clip = 150000; structures = {100, 12000}; trees = {1000, 1500}; -- looks to be obsolete dynamic = {300, 12000}; dynamic2 = {300, 12000,0.5}; objects = {3000, 80000}; mirage = {3000, 20000}; surface = {20000, 80000}; lights = {200, 40000}; districtobjects = {400, 400}; districts = {8000, 8000}; lodMult = 1.0; lodAdd = 0; }; when i changed the second number in brackets next to structures, it had no immediately noticable effect. then i've edited the objects. it removed several buildings as well as tanks, trucks, boats and even my very own a-10c  so i guess objects will stay as it is. what does structures refer to in this file? am i supposed to edit one of the other lines? @baltic_dragon can you tell about your experience and system specs? i think we need a new desert or isles map with minimum amount of trees and buildings just for VR. i think it should be easier than making a perfectly beleivable map that has cities, towns, villages, farms, etc.
milit Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I reduced 20000 to 14000 (in your example is 12000) in Extra section and it made fps smoother, without edgy drops. Multiplayer.
