Damocles Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 A secret project perhaps ? I got Oculus "Touch" last week, anyway tonight was my first opportunity to play around in DCS since. I have to say I was a little surprised when I saw a black glove lying in the cockpit, it took me a little while to realize what it was but when I moved my Touch controllers the gloves moved too, although not pointing the correct way or with any finger control they followed me moving the controllers about. Did i miss some bit of news ? I can't believe they are totally unintentional as they look like black flying gloves rather than just any old thing.
EntropySG Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 its bugged afaik, I simply hide them on the floor so DCS wouldnt pick them up at all :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PreussLee Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) Actually the hand controllers are in dcs since the vive support started...but they don't do anything than move. No interaction supported yet...Don't think there is any secret project, looks more like a test for the general vr controller support Edited March 16, 2017 by PreussLee i7 6700k @ 4,5 Ghz | MSI 1080ti Aero | 32 GB RAM 2133 | 500 GB SSD | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | HTC Vive |:pilotfly:
QuiGon Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Just leaving this here... ;) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Sickdog Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 I too freaked out tonight when I saw the gloves, my first time running DCS since getting my Oculus Touch recently. Glad I found this thread, hopefully there is more to come with this, tho I never will have any intention to use the touch with DCS, just totally impractical. But gives me hope for a glove type interface like the video above, but where you can see your hands like what we're seeing with the touch in DCS right now. Getting more and more excited about the future of VR! Well I took a look at the Captoglove site and Kickstarter and I thought, You know, I am probably gonna end up buying one if they get the backing and produce it anyway, so why not back it? So I did! I have no affiliation, but if all we VR pilots chip in, we will be that much closer to being able to use our hands in cockpit. I mean, they just demo'ed that we will be able to.... I have Leapmotion, but that has no immediate prospect of DCS compatibility. And the OR Touch/Vive Controllers are things you have to hold. Captoglove need another $9500 in the next 26 days. And we all want VR gloves! SCAN Intel Core i9 10850K "Comet Lake", 32GB DDR4, 10GB NVIDIA RTX 3080, HP Reverb G2. Custom Mi-24 pit with magnetic braked cyclic and collective. Gruman Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Please let me know if I completly missjudge the functioning of those, but as far as I can see thoseCaptogloves aren't really VR Gloves... They are just a game controller with a couple gyros inside, which can detect certain movements and emulate them as mouseclicks or as an analog axis. You will still have to look directly at the switch (centered of course, just keep your finger on the screen while he looks arround...) and then do some preprogrammed handsign to have right click, left click or mouse wheel. IMHO this gives as much immersion as a mouse glued to your throttle and cost 160$ - 250$.
