rickberry49 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Just built new system and want to transfer to it... From what I've gotten from Forum, I need to: Deactivate on old system (from in module manager) Does this include Campaigns, or does the A10c module do it all? IE... if there is no license #, then there is no DRM button, I assume that item does not need deactivation (freebee) ? I then copy the install dir to the new system along with the user dir... since registry is not involved at this point how do I restart and reactivate on new system? Can it be on a different drive letter or does the drive letter need to stay the same? I assume Nevada is treated the same??? Thanks in advance...!!!
Rudel_chw Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Just built new system and want to transfer to it... From what I've gotten from Forum, I need to: Deactivate on old system (from in module manager) Correct, thats the first step. Does this include Campaigns Yes it does, keep in mind that the Module Manager only shows purchased campaigns, not those campaign that some aircraft include for free. Also keep in mind that some campaigns have to be deactivated on dcs 2.0 while others have to be from dcs 1.5 or does the A10c module do it all? IE... if there is no license #, then there is no DRM button, I assume that item does not need deactivation (freebee) ? The only free modules are the su-25t and the tf-51 .. everything else has a serial number. I keep an excel spreadsheet with the serial numbers of every dcs purchase that i've done. I then copy the install dir to the new system along with the user dir... since registry is not involved at this point how do I restart and reactivate on new system? Can it be on a different drive letter or does the drive letter need to stay the same? Yes, it can be copied to a different drive letter. Before restarting, perform a 'dcs_updater repair', this will check that there are no files missing. I assume Nevada is treated the same??? Yes, but it is deactivated on dcs 2.0. If you have both dcs 1.5 and 2.0 you need to do the repair on both installs. I keep an excel spreadsheet with the serial numbers of every dcs purchase that i've done. Just being curious, but why do you keep that spreadsheet with the serials..?? All serials are easily found on the ED website? Or am I missing something? I had to do a fresh install a few months ago and couldn't find the serial of one of my modules (I keep all the numbers in a mail folder). But after checking the ED website, number was easily retrieved.. So, for me, no more need to keep all these serials in my mail folder?

Or am I missing something? I keep it for ease of reference, and because on ED you can easily see only the serials of the purchases that you've got there, it doesnt show the modules that you purchased on steam, on veao and on maple flag. The spreadsheet is easy to maintain, since I have to add a line only when I make a purchase, which isnt that often, and allows me to see how much i'm spending on the hobby this year :) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
rickberry49 Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 Thanks for the replies... I did a deactivate of everything that had a DRM by it 2.0 on my old system. Then opted to do a complete fresh download install on the new system. Started it up, logged in and then prompted to download A10 and Nevada. Keeping SN's in text format also make it easy to copy/paste in new install. All was working great until I tried to get all 4 2K monitors going with my new TITAN X Pascal card. Tried using Physx ?? to span all 4 and DCS took a dump. It starts but then the window goes black and closes. Tried repair no help, in process of reload again... won't try PHYSX again...!!! Thanks for the replies, at least I know how to do it now.... practice makes perfect..!!
