SuperKungFu Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I recently got the oculus rift and trying my best to get it working properly. Aside from the performance...I can't get the sound to work in DCS. Am i missing an option somewhere? I even manually selected headphones in my sound blaster app and it still doesn't transfer the sound in DCS to the rift. All other games do. Need some help. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dburne Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Don't select headphones in the SoundBlaster app, it is looking for headphones plugged into your soundcard. Select the Rift headphones in Windows. I am on Windows 10, and have a sound icon in my lower right system tray. I click on it and it pulls up a list of my sound devices, I change from my SoundBlaster card to Rift Audio and voila have DCS sound in my Rift headphones! Hope this helps, Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|
Torso Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) Are you sure you are right clicking your speaker icon in your system tray(where your clock is), then going to default playback device, then scroll to Rift Headphones in list and right click it and then left click "set as default device", then click OK to close it? This is what works for me when switching to Rift headphones. Then once done using it, you just reverse the process and re-select your speakers the same way to get external sound through them again instead of through Rift headphones. Is there any sound auto-detect capabilities with the Oculus tools that anyone found?
dburne Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Is there any sound auto-detect capabilities with the Oculus tools that anyone found? Well any game played through Oculus Home auto-detects and plays through the Rift by default, no matter what one has set as their default playback device. It's the ones outside of Home ( where you have unsupported titles selected in the Home software), like DCS are going to play through the default sound device that is set in Windows. I have my SoundBlaster Z set as default as I want my sound through my speakers for normal computer use, and don't have to change anything when running a game inside of Oculus Home. Just for DCS ( or any other game I might get to run VR outside of Oculus Home) I will need to change my playback device to the Rift. Only takes a couple of clicks so easy enough. Thanks dburne, I was confused as to why sometimes Oculus switches and other times I have to do it manually. I assume when Oculus detects an in home game and auto switches sound to Rift headset, it will at the same time disconnect the PC speakers? The games you're talking about are from the Oculus store for $ or some free?
