cichlidfan Posted April 4, 2017 Posted April 4, 2017 For various reasons, I did a complete reinstall of all three variations of DCS World last night, actually about six hours ago. This problem occurred with both the Stable release version and the Open Alpha. It did not happen with the Open Beta. Everything goes along just fine until it has finished installing files. Then it hangs at this point... I had to kill this window in Task Manager, which shows it as Not Responding. After that, I also have to kill the Updater Exiting dialog, which also goes to a Not Responding mode. For the Open Alpha install, I waited five hours before killing the task, just to see if it ever came back and it did not. This is the first time I have ever seen this behavior. cichlidfan Posted April 7, 2017 Author Posted April 7, 2017 The exact same thing happened today with the release and open alpha version updates. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 7, 2017 ED Team Posted April 7, 2017 my guess is antivirus, which one do you use? Try adding your DCS builds to the whitelist Forum rules - DCS Crashing? cichlidfan Posted April 7, 2017 Author Posted April 7, 2017 my guess is antivirus, which one do you use? Try adding your DCS builds to the whitelist It is Kapersky and all three DCS folders are whitelisted. Actually, they are flagged to be completely ignored by Kapersky. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 7, 2017 ED Team Posted April 7, 2017 Not sure if just doing the folders is enough with kapersky I know the FAQ's say to do this Kaspersky Internet Security owners: 1. Go to Settings / Protection / Application control settings / Manage application 2. Find all executable files in the DCS World folder: DCS World\Run.exe DCS World\bin\DCS.exe DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe DCS World\bin\Launcher.exe DCS World\bin\dcs_protect.exe 3. Right click on it and choose "Details and rules". 4. Select checkbox in exclusions. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/557/ try adding DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe first and see if it helps Forum rules - DCS Crashing? cichlidfan Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 I will give it a shot. Let you know after the next update. Thanks. However, that would not explain why the problem does not occur with the Open Beta. Loophole Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 (edited) I have been experiencing this same problem - hanging at "shutting the torrents down", for the last year or more of updates, both 2.x and 1.5. Killing the processes seems to work - the update is complete - but it seems an odd thing for the updater to struggle with so much! Just using Windows Defender; I'll have to try running as Administrator next time and see if that makes any difference. Edited June 7, 2017 by Loophole
