Weltensegler Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Almost everybody is experiencing frame drops at the moment except those that had sufficient high frames before to not notice the drop when capping at 60. While crucial to report its too early to complain (not implying you do so) as this is the fist beta. Let's hope ED is still optimizing. So long take a look here how to get most fps out of the current situation. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200906 cheers 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274

I've actually had an issue with stutters in the previous iteration of DCS as well (I opened this thread back around May of 2017). Hopefully the new SSD gets it to a point where it's at least playable, even with the occasional frame drops almost everyone is experiencing. I would definitely be happy with that! Cheers, SharkBait I don't think it's your SSD that's causing stutters. I see them whenever I try to use the sim as a combat sim! Create a battle scenario in the mission editor and when bullits fly and units move, everything gets bogged down. People are doing You Tube videos just flying around the map, no one is showing any battle? Digital Combat Simulator is supposed to simulate battle. Early 1.5 was fine, but these new eye candy maps don't seem to be combat optimised. I hope ED does some optimising? Auntystatic Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I got tons of stutters with 2.5 even though on a single monitor I had nearly 200fps (normally run 3 monitors) tried everything, finally I dropped my cpu from 4.6GHz to 4.5GHz and all the stuttering went away in the blink of an eye.
outlawal2 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Something else worth looking at is where you have your preload set? This preloads graphics into memory so the more memory you have the better things should run if you set the preload as high as it will go.. (Preload Radius) Setting this to max helped my system a lot.. "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO

Ah well, I already ordered the SSD and I need it anyway, and my computer is incredibly slow right now (even browsing the web or file explorer takes forever), so hopefully the new SSD at least solves that issue. Will try installing 2.5 this weekend and see if the stutters go away or are, at the very least, reduced. Lao Fei Mao Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Hi guys, as above said, of course you need a SSD. I got a stutter every 3 seconds when the DCS 1.5X was installed on the HDD. After I moved it to a SATA3 SSD, wow, smooth like a silk. And the 2.5 OB works well too. DCS unlike any other games, which can load a scene's data one time. DCS has a very high view distance and you are driving a fast moving objects, so it needs constantly loading big texture data. SSD is faster and stable.
SharkBait Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 Great news! The stutters disappeared after I switched out my old PNY SSD and installed a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. I'm very excited to fly the P-51 I bought. Finally! The bad PNY SSD was the issue all along. I should have known when disk usage started hitting 90%-100% for no apparent reason. And this started happening in less than 2 years after I purchased the PNY SSD. I will likely try to contact them to see if they can replace it (I think it had 3 year warranty). If not, I'm never purchasing a PNY product again.
