RpSPT Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I wonder if missing winter ground textures is some known bug and should I reinstall the game? I have old DCS World installation that has updated many times and on some point winter textures were gone from Black Shark campaign missions and at least from Warthog instant missions. Summer textures are on all maps.
NeilWillis Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 It might be worth running a clean up and repair of your DCS World installation. To be safe I'd also rename the saved games folder. When you next run the sim, the saved games install will be rewritten and error free. That should resolve the issue. It sounds to me like your mods have taken over, and corrupted your install. After the clean up, use JSGME or similar utility to enable mods, so they can easily be removed. Also, it is best to keep your copy of DCS World up to date by making sure you update regularly. Always remove all mods and run a repair in advance of installing updates. This kind of housekeeping will keep your DCS World healthy and as bug free as it is possible to make it.

RpSPT Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 Cleanup and repair did not fix the problem. I used this as a guide: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/709/ I was able to change month for single missions in mission editor and got the winter season textures that way. It is not a proper solution for campaign missions though. Mission month setting seems to be wrong for all missions.
Art-J Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 A couple of versions ago the algorithm for changing the season textures was changed as well. Now they load up based on a date rather than season set in mission editor. If old campaigns are not updated to this new standard, they will load different set of textures compared to how they ran previously. I guess the only solution is to edit every mission in the campaign manually. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
cichlidfan Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) I guess the only solution is to edit every mission in the campaign manually. A change like that should not have been implemented without making the necessary downstream changes as well. ED made the change, which created the bug in their missions. That is a pretty tedious change for the user to have to make, especially since ED's updates will revert the changes. Of course, a mod could be made to automate post update restoration of this fix but that creates the problem of potentially overwriting any other updates that might get applied to those missions. RpSPT Posted May 19, 2017 Author Posted May 19, 2017 So this is not a bug. Wonder why ED didn't update their own missions, or am I missing something here? It seems like the weather is still cold in those missions, as the helicopter warns about ice.
