Reflected Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 I might have problems with my ear, but it’s very, VERY hard to hear the IR seeker lock tone, even if I turn the volume all the way up. (clockwise). It’s barely audible. Is this normal? Thanks! Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Dehuman Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Yeah it is barely audible even with the volume turned up. Try this: Go to, C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Sounds\sdef\Aircrafts\MiG-21\Cockpit Open Mig21_Missile_head_low.sdef in a txt editor. By default the gain is at 0.5, bumped it up to 1.5 myself. Could be placebo effect but I think it helped.
Frederf Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 I hear it more distinctly without any file edit. You should check two things: 1. Change all general DCS audio sliders by 1% and change the hear in helmet check box. I've had DCS volume values not match their visual GUI representation which was re-synced on the first change. 2. Make sure your Windows speaker setup (2 stereo, 5.1, 7.1, etc.) DCS setup, and physical speaker setup match. There are lots of audio bugs where 5.1 is selected but that channel audio is being sent to speakers which do not physically exist. A common symptom of this is positional sounds being loud or very quiet depending on camera direction. Missile tone should be in helmet so it might not be able to be diagnosed this way.
