peterj Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 There have been some extensive coverage of the launch here, since there is a swede onboard, for the first time. They're broadcasting live on public tv 02:47 (GMT+1) :) The launch was scrubbed this friday because of low clouds, now is the second attempt. However it's been said it's only a 30% chance that there will be a launch today. Anyway it's pretty interresting to hear shuttle launch control on NASA TV: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html
Guest IguanaKing Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 The launch was scrambled... That would be scrubbed. Scrambled implies just the opposite. :smilewink:

JaNk0 Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Really cool!!! Watch the whole process before count down + the lift off. Truely impressive  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I am currently visiting Houston. Yesterday afternoon we went to Johnson Space Centre and toured facilities there. We were not able to take pictures of the control room due to preparation for the lunch (take over after lunch). What was truly amazing was the full size Saturn 5 rocket and full size space shuttle engine and nose cone. I’ll post some pictures when I return back home. Update, monday, 12-11-06. As I promised, here's the picture of the F-1, Saturn rocket engine that amazed me at NASA space centre: Thermaltake Kandalf LCS | Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R | Etasis ET750 (850W Max) | i7-920 OC to 4.0 GHz | Gigabyte HD5850 | OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 2000 | 2 X 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD in RAID 0 | ASUS VW266H 25.5" | LG Blue Ray 10X burner | TIR 5 | Saitek X-52 Pro | Logitech G930 | Saitek Pro flight rudder pedals | Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
nscode Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I hope they have lots of chaff on board :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Guest IguanaKing Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Beautiful screenshot nscode! :D The sun in the background almost looks like the NASA video of the rearend of the shuttle at a distance. That was so cool when the camera switched to the EFT. It really showed exactly how violent MECO is.
peterj Posted December 11, 2006 Author Posted December 11, 2006 Discovery docking right now, http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html
VMFA117_Poko Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 anyone know when they are going to land? will it be transmitted?
Conuk Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 (slightly off topic....) just watched this .... gets you thinking :) http://www.theufomovie.com/
Guest IguanaKing Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 anyone know when they are going to land? will it be transmitted? I pretty sure NASA will have a live video stream available for people to watch the landing. For re-entry date, have a look around on their web-site, they've got scheduling information on there. :)
