Tango777 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 (edited) I updated DCS 2.0 to its latest version release, no problems at all before the latest release. After the release I flew the M2000 on some air to air missions and everything was fine. Then DCS 2.0 began to ctd 5 seconds into a flight and it did it again, and again.... The graphics looked great as usual also, BUT before the computer restart. But due to the constant ctd that began happening I restarted the computer hoping the ctd's were a memory problem, and the computer restart worked in my favor for about a minute then it began the ctd thing all over again. I also noticed that the cockpit graphics, and the hud was especially unreadable almost regardless of sun light direction into the cockpit, so the attached screenshot shows the hud as best I could see it and you will notice that the lines on the airplane are not sharp (crisp) and straight anymore. This is strange because before I restarted the computer I had no problems with any poor graphic's quality. No changes to any settings have taken place. Anyone have any ideas? Before computer restart, no graphics issues. Edited May 30, 2017 by BIGNEWY image i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 30, 2017 ED Team Posted May 30, 2017 Thanks I would go with a cleanup and repair ( guide in my sig or this link ) Also rename your openalpha folder here C:\Users\Brandon\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha keep it as a backup as we can move your old input folder to the new one we will create when you restart DCS open alpha. You will need to login again, and redo your graphics preferences. Once done retest Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Tango777 Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 I did the cleanup and repair. But the renaming of the openalpha rename is where I am confused. Do you want me to copy the complete folder as a backup and store it somewhere, and then rename the openalpha folder to something like Saved Games\DCS.openalpha123? i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 31, 2017 ED Team Posted May 31, 2017 rename the whole folder e.g Saved Games\DCS.openalphabackup then restart DCS it will create a new one Saved Games\DCS.openalpha and then you can move your input folder from the old location to the new so you dont have to redo your controls Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Tango777 Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 I did what you suggested, and I have had a ctd again but it was only in the M2000C. The A-10C and F-15 also have a cockpit that instrumentation is hard to read. The update did weird things to the cockpit graphics on all of my planes. The M2000C's canopy is 1 big reflection that reflects the airframe's paint scheme, the canopy is transparent but not clear anymore. The F-15's left computer screen has blocky texture letters and number, and the A10-C's hud is barely readable and I have its' intensity set to max. My graphic's settings are set no differently than before the update. Was part of the update meant to make the sun's power, and all reflections on glass, in the cockpit so brilliant that it is now more realistic than before the update? i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
Tango777 Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Here is a picture of my F-15's cockpit. It looks very different now with the lighting effects post-update. And yes, the hud's intensity setting is turned up as high as possible, 1 notch lower on the hud's intensity and the hud begins to fade away quickly regardless of the sun light's angle. Same deal with the A-10C. Any suggestions? i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
cthulhu68 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Was part of the update meant to make the sun's power, and all reflections on glass, in the cockpit so brilliant that it is now more realistic than before the update? Yes the new lighting system is an effort to look more realistic. It's a work in progress and developers are aware that it appears to bright at mid day. Many surfaces and textures need to be tuned in to the new lighting so that will be an ongoing process. The setting deferred shading can be turned off and you'll have the "old" lighting back if you don't like how it looks at this point. Deferred shading and MSAA\Anistropc Fiiltering are causing some issues with performance so you might want to turn down these settings.
Tango777 Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Okay. Thanks for the info. i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
