Just starting to really try and dig into the Mission Editor and I have a scenario cooking based loosely on the type of missions flown in Red Flag for A-10C.

In general terms, I have a wall of Eagles leading a flight of A-10s up the Sally Corridor with a marshal in Caliente Charlie before pushing west toward Tonopah. From Tonopah I have four flights of MiG-29s flying BARCAP missions to the North, Northeast, Southeast and South. There are also some ground units moving south to north east of Tonopah for the A-10s to strike with Tunguskas to the north and south of the ingress route with their coverages overlapping slightly.

So, my main hurdle has been to keep the coalitions off each other at mission start. At this point, I'm using the waypoint option of "Radar Off" for every unit until a given time has passed and then it's "Fight's On"

Is this the best way to keep units blind and dumb until you want them to wake up and have at it? Would a "Mission Start" Trigger of AI OFF work better until they hit a zone where it would be AI ON?

Just want to maximize the efficiency of what the game is doing under the hood. Getting things TO happen seems to be easier than keeping them FROM happening...

Great forum here. Learning a ton!

Tasks don't have to start on the first waypoint. So you could have all of the waypoints setup to get the AI where you want them to be. For whichever waypoint you have setup for their ingress point you can assign the CAP, CAS, etc tasks there.

If you really want to keep AI "dumb" to everything you should use the alarm state option. It is basically the AIs "alert" setting and when set to green all of their sensors are turned off.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
