steel_tiger1 Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 Already own them. Bought them for $500 for the pair 6 months ago. Friend was upgrading to a VR and wanted 1080ti's. He had just purchased them so they have little time on them. Sandman1330 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 For memory, be very selective about what you get. Ryzen is super finicky with fast ram right now. Funny, because it benefits the most from fast ram due to the infinity fabric, but it's very difficult to get it running properly. I just bought 32gb of 3200, but can only get it to 2933 - and that took a lot of trial and error. I've read (after the fact, unfortunately) that you want ram based on Samsung B die - you can find lists online of certain SKUs that have it. Don't make the mistake I did! Ryzen 7 5800X3D / Asus Crosshair VI Hero X370 / Corsair H110i / Sapphire Nitro+ 6800XT / 32Gb G.Skill TridentZ 3200 / Samsung 980 Pro M.2 / Virpil Warbrd base + VFX and TM grips / Virpil CM3 Throttle / Saitek Pro Combat pedals / Reverb G2

Did you update your BIOS to AGESA 1.0.0.6? This BIOS update fixed a lot of the RAM speed issues.
BitMaster Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Corsair Venegeance is Samsung B die based, at least the 2 sets I have. Aim for 3200 or better..and buy them somewhere where you can return them without stress---just in case. btw...good move with the Ryzen ! steel_tiger1 Posted July 29, 2017 Author Posted July 29, 2017 btw...good move with the Ryzen ! Thanks. You and Pilotasso got me thinking really hard about it, so thank you. I will most likely buy from Newegg, memory will be the last thing I buy, so I am not sitting on it to long to return it. steel_tiger1 Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) Just thought I would post an update. The last piece of hardware arrives tomorrow. The memory comes via fedEx and I can finish assembly and installation of the remaining components. Looking forward to getting it set up and installing DCS and getting back to flying.
