Radar Lock randomly not working

Hi,

 

I'm writing this in the bug section, cause I'm fairly certain it is one, but I could very well be wrong... :S

 

Anyway, with the Mirage, on certain occasions, I can't lock anything on the radar. As a matter of fact, the radar because unresponsive. That is, I can't lock, and I can't also switch between the "special modes" (Close Combat and what not). Whatever I push nothing happens.

 

I think it's a bug because I have tried to figure out if I do something special for this to happen, but not really. It seems to happen, however I haven't noted a tendency, after I have had a succesfull lock. For instance, I lock one contact, then decide to drop the lock, and then I can't either lock, nor switch to special modes...

 

Anyway, let me know if this is a known issue or something. I've looked around the forum but found nothing.

Do you have an A2A weapon selected? It wont lock without an weapon selected.

Pretty sure I had, but now that you ask...I'm starting to doubt :S

 

Let me do a couple of missions and see if that was the issue. If it wasn't, I'll try to take a recording and post it

No, at the end of your mission you can save a track, this a recording of what happened in your mission. It can later be played by DCS and you can see all that happened and even take control of the plane.

I just tried on Open Beta freshly installed. Instant action "free fly" mission.

I can lock target in look down, no weapon selected, master arm off.

Hmm I wonder if beta has an update it would not lock for me without a weapon selected yesterday in regular.

RB said nothing made it into last week update IIRC.

 

As said above in some condition the radar won't let you lock because it can't -> not a bug.

But to know if you were in those conditions we need something to look at :).

Ok I know what it is now, if you jettison the fuel tank you have no weapon at all selected. In this condition you cant lock or put anything into TWS. If you select any weapon or gun then it all works.

Thats the sequence where I normally mess up dump fuel tank entering combat but forgrt to select a weapon then no tws and no lock.

Also, if you drop your bombs you won't be able to lock anything (probably bombs are still selected even though they ar gone). Selecting a weapon, or POL mode should do the trick.
