How are you planning on hooking it up to the computer? Some form of a adapter? I would Imagine if it is seen in windows in the joystick section it probably would work. I have not tried it myself. But I am curious on the setup.

Your MB doesn't have a game/joystick port. You're probably looking at the VGA port. You'll need a USB-Gameport adapter like the one Brewnix posted.

Well, if you find a way to plug this DB15 in computer, and Windows recognize, in DCS (or any other flight game) will work. ;)

Gameport to USB adapters has low resolution (~8bits) and support few buttons (4~6) and maybe one HAT.

For old good gear like CH Fighterstick, Tm F16FLCS/F22PRO+TQS (all DB-15) worth convert internally for USB installing a cheap Arduino board as controller - if you have SKILL and tools for DIY.

The "new" stick will be PnP for Windows.

Win XP was the last OS that worked with gameport devices. With the exception of a hack to Windows Vista, all Microsoft operating systems after Windows XP no longer support gameport. Even if you add a sound card with a gameport, there's no longer a way to make it work.

Gameport to USB adapter will work... but it will be slow and laggy and may only support a few buttons and 1 hat Centering and calibration will be problematic. Rewiring with an Arduino or Bodnar board is a good solution but may cost more in time and materials than purchasing a modern USB joystick with the same or more features of that old Thrustmaster 'stick.

Depends, if you live in Argentina wheres a X-55 cost $600+ (US dollars)... :joystick:

Exactly! This is a very expensive hobby in Argentina. Each module, stick, track ir, pedals, hotas, is a huge effort to make.

I suggest you start simple. I have been playing this since early 2000, when I built my first computer and used a Microsoft sidewinder 2 for 8 year. Then I got a Logitech extreme 3d pro, until that broke and last year I got a Thrustmaster T-flight stick x I have all HOTAS controls map and I have not problems with all my modules. I have KA-50, A-10C, AJS-37, Mirage, F-86, P-51, Mig-21, FC3 and I used all HOTAS commands plus many more by using modifiers.

This will give you time to plan to what, if anything, you can upgrade to. I have never used pedals, can't afford a full HOTAS. Track IR is the other thing I use, but I used my first one for 5 year before my ex broke it when we separated.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

I have Sidewinder Precision 2 stick and a TWCS throttle, so hotas is pretty much covered. I just wanted to change the stick for a low resistence one since I hate this one. The only one that I like is the VKB Gladiator but Im out of budget right now since I bought track ir and twcs recently.

You bought a TWCS? You got way more money than me, never mind.

Well.. Track IR 5 I bought it used for 1/3 of the price. TWCS is arriving in 15 days since I had to import it, good price though.

But with this stick it is impossible to refuel an american plane, just cant be done.

Yes, but can you compare a modern Saitek USB X-55 Hotas w/throttle to Piston85's old discontinued Thrustmaster MkII joystick only? It's nowhere close to the class of the modern X-55 with throttle. Shopping for a new USB 'stick only with comparable features of the old Thrustmaster gameport MKII and you'll find several makers offerings between $35 and $50 US Dollars and used USB sticks cost much less.

And the joystick in question had pretty strong spring inside. I may still have it, actually.

If it was that simple .... this is the prices in your local market, but we don't live in a "perfect world", the $59 US dollars (Amazon.com) for a e.g. T.16000M can easily became $130+ US dollars in Argentinean market.

Why I say - if the guy has skill and tools - fit a $6 Arduino (free worldwide shipping from China/HK) inside a old DB-15 joystick can make sense. ;)

Agree that this Tm FCS Mk.II is very meehhh... has nothing interesting unless (for one that care about) their "F-4'ish" look. :D
