DPS Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Who's up for a 100 mission F-15 campaign? I could probably knock it up before ED release the next version of Lock On. I think I'll call it Black Sea Operations.
Force_Feedback Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 2 years late with that idea, but heck, give it a try. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
VMFA117_Poko Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Old title "Black Sea Operation" for campaign. Maybe something new and original like "Operation Snapdragon" or "Tartar Sauce" if Crimea will be a combat territory :P?
504MrWolf Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 BSO is real close to being finished and ready for release......... www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk

DPS Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 How many missions would really suit the average player? Personally, I very much doubt anyone would really want to fly 50 let alone 100 trips. But perhaps I'm wrong. Day 100. Your goal: sink the Kuznetzov.
britgliderpilot Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 How many missions would really suit the average player? Personally, I very much doubt anyone would really want to fly 50 let alone 100 trips. But perhaps I'm wrong. Day 100. Your goal: sink the Kuznetzov. 30 missions is a nice round number for a big campaign. Any more than that . . . . is OTT. I was close to having a 20-plus mission campaign finished for the Su33, but all of a sudden something happened and . . . . I just stopped. I'm still not sure why, seems I just ran out of . . . something. Time, possibly. Summer kicked in. Final year at Uni. BS Beta. Something like that. I haven't got a hope in hell of picking it up anymore, but I suppose I could send someone what I've got so far. Needs fleshing out, a couple of missions filling in, a bit of background adding. DPS, you up for it perhaps? I had a bit of involvement in BSO, the Su33 campaign around the Navy Mod was going to loosely fit as a chapter of it . . . . I think where it came unstuck was the scope we were aiming for. For a while it looked like we could get there - but there was a point where it became obvious that with other commitments (think the majority of people working on it were students) we couldn't put the time in to keep making progress. Was a sad moment. Part overambition, part unforeseen commitments - was supposed to be a massive campaign in four or more parts, still feel it would have been best to keep that private and release small chunks at a time. Oh well . . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Cosmonaut Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I have to agree that 100 missions is way too long. For BSO it would have worked because of the cut scenes, story line and their website keeping you interested and involved but for a straight campaign then 20 to 30 sounds about right. Cozmo. ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted December 22, 2006 ED Team Posted December 22, 2006 Lol, well, if you DO make a "bso" campaign, my vids have something to compliment :P https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
DPS Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 So a 30 mission campaign (with no labels) it is then. Good points, BGP. Sometimes too many cooks do indeed spoil the broth. I might be able to pick up your Su-33 campaign in the New Year - if I have time. A video by GA would be great - of course I reserve the right to make a couple of cheesy/tongue-firmly-in-cheek promo movies.:smilewink:
DPS Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 Mission 1 of 30 now complete. The Peoples Liberation Air Force of Jamaica has got its finger on the nuclear trigger. Tensions are rising across the free world. I'm aiming for release on 1st February. If you're desperate for a campaign over the holidays I've got some I made earlier here: http://www.dpsflight.com/CampaignList.htm DPS.
DPS Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 Mission 2 of 30 now complete. In about half of the missions I will be assigning only one goal, and that will be that the player survives. Of course that means that a lazy player will just be able to skip to the next mission, but I've found in the past that setting goal = destroy in every sortie only really works for A-10 type trips where the player is doing all the attacking - not so good for typical F-15 ops such as Strike/SEAD escort were the AI may jetison all their stores at the first wiff of a MiG and make the mission virtually impossible to complete. Or is goal = player survive sacrilege. Thoughts, please.
DPS Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 I'm on to Mission 7 now. So far each one has started on the apron. How many of you actually prefer to start this way or already airborne?
Carlos73 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 imho I'm on to Mission 7 now. So far each one has started on the apron. How many of you actually prefer to start this way or already airborne? I think missions start from parking space, engines stopped. Running starts are for practising bombing runs, air combat etc. Missions should start as real as it gets. And end to the same place. Getting a heavily loaded plane airborne and back down in one piece is a challenge in itself, especially true for su25t and su25. If it starts to feel too easy, add some crosswind, fog, night, zero visibility... ;) And most important thing. Change the default weather and time of the mission. Summer 12.00 +20 no wind gets boring pretty quick. And leave a password in the campaign docs, it's nice to turn tables and play the same campaign from the other side of the table. Or edit the campaign to multiplayer.
