Dear all,

Just bought a new 144hz BenQ monitor. Been facing a weird problem; when on the normal windows screen it shows to be running at 1920x1080@120hz (HDMI connection). However when I fire up DCS and check; it shows to be running at 1920x1080@60hz . Please can someone help me fix this?

In the DCS settings; i have unchecked VSYNC.

Thanks in advance.

Hi JSF,

I run x3 144Hz monitors and to the best of my knowledge you need to use the DP ports and suitable cables/connectors to run anything at 144Hz. The HDMI cable as far as I am aware will not enable you to do this and 60Hz to 120Hz will be your maximum.

In my case I also had to select the monitor to run in non native 1920 x 1080 resolution via the Nvidia control panel. The 1080p, 1920 x 1080 (native) setting will only allow a maximum of 60Hz. Hope this helps. Cheers.

HDMI can not run above 60hz.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

That is true for HDMI 1.3

HDMI 1.4 can do 100Hz and iirc HDMI 2.0 can do even more.

YOu have to have 1.4 on the GPU, Monitor and cable to make 100Hz work, 2.0 for 144Hz iirc.

*edit.

ahhh, guess you where mostly right, it's 2.1 that can do a lot of Hz.

I have to use DP to get my 144Hz Gsync working, the monitor does not have a 2nd output other than DP.

Thanks for chiming in guys; figured the solution by pure fluke actually.

Turns out that HDMI does actually top out at 120hz;and had to disable the stock Intel GPU in my system - this is what was causing the capping at 60hz.

Running at 120hz now with the HDMI after disabling.
