Zimmerdylan Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 (edited) Guys: Your servers have never really been very high on the performance end of things but the people who frequent them were always good fliers who get along very well, and the atmosphere is very positive. But since you started running the Normandy server, the actual server performance of both Normandy, and Nevada are just terrible. I spend more time trying to get into the server without major problems, and getting any plane up in the air than I do flying. And once I get airborne, I'm scared to death to do anything other than climb to a safe altitude and just stay there in fear of the 15-30 second lag spikes that plague EVERYONE who flies there. This isn't my rig, or my internet. It's a problem that hinders most everyone who comes to your servers now a days. It's terrible. The problem occurs whenever anyone spawns into a new plane. The server just goes into lag mode for up to 30 secs. I do not know what the issue is, or why it happens. What I do know is that many of the regulars that I use to see there frequently (myself included) can't or won't fly there any more. I'm making this thread in hopes that you will hear my plea and either offer an explanation, or tell me that a fix is in the works. Or possibly both. The spikes are only part of the issues but they are a major factor in my abandoning AO at this point. Today, the server itself reset all of my control options to default. I would get into a plane and all of my settings for any plane I was in were all set to default. But only in the AO server. Other servers were fine, as was single player. As I said earlier, I spend more time trying to get into the server with no major issues than I do flying it. So please.......could you guys look into these issues. Thanks: Tuco Hi, Our server is run on a dedicated machine owned by a hosting company so I can assure you that the quality of the server is not the issue. There have been some performance issues with the new update in 2.1 relating to deferred shading, try disabling this. I spoke to some people that said they are not having the same problem as you they said it was running relatively smooth so maybe it is setting related. We are constantly looking for ways to improve performance but at the moment we don't think there is anything we can do to help with the performance. I don't think our server has reset your controls, there isn't any mechanism that we have control over that would reset your controls from our end those are local files stored locally. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hi if you are talking about the 1.5 server this is like this because in the past we have found a tendancey for helicopters to harass aircraft and aircraft to harass helicopters causes many complaints so they are separated for this reason. It is only an hour flight in a helicopter to get to the nearest fixed wing spawn. Community A-4E-C
JG14_Smil Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 (edited) I'd be lost without the AO server. :) The connection is excellent and is not the cause of the long spikes, of which are 90% fewer than there used to be (for me). If you join a MP and it resets your controls is could be you are using simple or arcade controls and the server might require simulation controls, as it should. Edited July 18, 2017 by JG14_Smil

Thanks: Tuco All of the Aerobatics Online servers require simulation controls, so that may be your issue. I'm not aware of multiplayer missions being able to modify or corrupt a player's controls. If that's happening, I would suggest reporting that to ED. I'm not sure which AO server in particular you were referring to regarding 30 second lag spikes. I've only very rarely gotten lag spikes that were longer than half a second, personally. A longer spike is usually indicative of an impending DCS server crash. Our Nevada server has been suffering multiple freezes per day, so if that's where you're playing, that might be the explanation. As to a long term solution: we're exploring options with more physical server hosts to host maps. I've temporarily taken the Normandy server offline to see if it was conflicting with the Nevada server since they run on the same physical computer. We'll make announcements when any major changes happen. Also, I stole your forum signature, Nelson. I didn't have one and yours seemed nice. Samoht Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 The Aerobatics Online Nevada server is running in a new home. Since the machine and IP address have changed, you'll need to add it to your favorites again as it'll not be starred anymore. Tell us if you see a difference, especially with regards to lag spikes. We're interested to know! Aerobatics Online Server Admin Gaming Rig: i7 7700k @ 4.6, Nvidia GTX-1080Ti, 16GB DDR4, 1TB NVMe SDD. Arrow_FP Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 A few of us flew on AO 1.5 tonight and although we did experience a lag spike here and there, for the most part it was really smooth. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster
