Joni Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Hi guys, Im using an axis for the zoom and I noticed that when in center it gets to a position closer than when pressing "Enter". In fact pressing enter will zoom out a little bit. Is this a bug that appeared with last wednesday update? This is the first time I use an axis for the zoom. All axis behave the same, even the stick. MikeMikeJuliet Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 If I've understood correctly, DCS scales the zoom depending on your screen resolution, meaning it won't zoom out the same amount on every screen. With that in mind, I don't think what you are finding is a bug, but an intended feature. I personally would find it better if we had a FOV-slider to set our starting FOV in stead of the current zoom-out-on-game-start -system. DCS Finland | SF squadron
Joni Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Hey Mike. Regardless of the resolution feature, I was referring to the fact that pressing "Zoom Normal" key does not put the zoom in the same position as the center of an axis. They should be the same. Should they? I don't think it is pointed anywhere that the "normal" FOV should be the center of the axis. DCS Finland | SF squadron
BitMaster Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Those I think are actually 4 different things/keys, Numpad-5 and Numpad-Enter. 5 centers ( axis ) and ENTER resets zoom ( Numpad / and * to move in/out ). ?? Joni Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Yes thats correct. Hence, the reset zoom should be the same as the center of an axis. It is not pointed anywhere, its just common sense, at least to me. :( Intel Core i5-8600k + Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO | Gigabyte GTX 1070 Aorus 8G | 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengance LPX Black 3200MHz | Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 3 | WD Black SN750 NVMe 500GB | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | WD Green 240GB | WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 3 | WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 | EVGA 650 GQ 80+ Gold | Samsung CF391 Curved 32" | Corsair 400C | Steelseries Arctis 5 --- Razer Kraken X Lite | Logitech G305 | Redragon Dyaus 2 K509 | Xbox 360 | Saitek X-52 Pro | Thrustmaster TWCS | TrackIR 5

JG14_Smil Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 now that you mention it, the post is a bit odd... :p Please note, not everyone uses keyboards, so it is very subjective. Center view and zoom are two different things.

derodo Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Have you tried tunning the axis? I usually find that setting it as a "slider" with a curve of -18 gives a center position roughly equivalent to the default 5 key; but you can play with it to find a more convenient setting that suits you.

Thanks derodo, but the issue was about the default enter key, not the 5. I dont see how the curve will change the center of an axis.
