Alfa Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Who yesterday had the chance to observe the following 3 impressive Russian navy ships.. - "Dmitry Donskoy"(Pr. 941/"Typhoon class" SSBN) - world largest submarine. - "Pyotr Velikiy"(Pr. 1144.2/ Kirov Class CGN) - world largest missile cruiser. - "Nikolay Chiker" - world largest/most powerful rescue tug. ...as they passed through the Great Belt(Denmark) into the Baltic sea on route to St. Petersburg, where they will participate in the annual naval day parade. probad Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 on a slightly related note, the chinese 052 class destroyer changsha apparently suffered a total powerplant failure in the indian ocean trying to get there as well.
Alfa Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) Well apparently they either fixed it or sent a replacement, because three Chinese navy ships(a destroyer, a frigate and a replenishment ship) also passed through the strait a few days earlier(Wednesday morning). https://www.thelocal.dk/20170719/chinese-navy-sails-through-danish-waters Edit: The just 2 year old advanced missile destroyer "Changsha", the frigate "Yuncheng" and a replenishment ship are being escorted through Danish waters and the Great Belt by a Danish patrol ship says Captain Steffen Lund, chief of the defence operational center. So if there was a problem with the destroyer in question, they must have fixed it in the meantime :) Edited July 22, 2017 by Alfa more information JJ
probad Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) interesting, got a source saying the hefei replaced it, probably false report then if the changsha actually arrived. Edited July 22, 2017 by probad
Svend_Dellepude Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Total showoff! :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
Alfa Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 interesting, got a source saying the hefei replaced it, probably false report then if the changsha actually arrived. I don't know probad - I guess there is a possibility that they actually sent another vessel of the same class, but no one realised that it wasn't the originally announced "Changsha". I have been looking around, but so far I have found nothing to suggest that it isn't. JJ
Alfa Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 Total showoff! :D Yeah, but I guess that is the point(bringing them to the navy day parade) :) . JJ

Alfa Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 The boomer with a yakuzi for the captain! Long time no speak - how are things Mattias? :) Anyway, did you mean a jacuzzi for the captain? - IIRC the Typhoon class actually has luxuries(especially on a sub) such as a sauna, a small swimming pool and a gym for the crew as such....says a lot about the size of that thing :) .
