DD_Fenrir Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) Particularly in light of the recent release of the Spitfire Epsom Campaign, where heavily armoured Brummbärs are used to represent an artillery position in lieu of field gun types, this I feel highlights an issue with the WW2 assets pack. This issue being that it is missing soft skinned weapon targets for both sides that would be more vulnerable to the prototypical gun and bomb loadouts of our current craft. At the moment, for the Allies, taking out Tigers, Panthers, Brummbärs, etc, is the purview of the rocket (and to a lesser degree, bomb) armed P-51 - a loadout that it never saw service with in the European Theatre, let alone Normandy. Whilst it makes an adequate stand in for a Typhoon I can't help thinking that a range of targets - for both Allies and Axis - other than trucks and tents that are more susceptible to gun and bomb splash damage would help to expand mission design, making a wider array of targets permissible, and therefore mission variety and keep players interested. By using field gun artillery types we further expand the capability for artillery barrages for use by mission designers or Combined Arms users. I would humbly suggest the following types: 1. 10.5 cm leFH 18 - the most common of the Wehrmacht's light howitzers https://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/weapons/artillery-and-cannons/70734/view/10_5cm_lefh18/ 2. Ordnance QF 25 pounder Field Gun - the major British Field gun of the 2nd World War http://ww2db.com/weapon.php?q=131 3. 105mm M2A1 - the standard U.S. light field howitzer in World War II http://www.dday-overlord.com/en/material/artillery/m2a1-howitzer 4. Nebelwerfer 42 - Much used in Normandy https://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/weapons/artillery-and-cannons/59709/view/21cm_nebelwerfer_42/ Edited August 2, 2017 by DD_Fenrir
Magic Zach Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Well, WWII Assets Pack is still having new units added, so, who knows? But I see your point, and I do agree that these units should be added to the WWII Assets Pack. :) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using Tapatalk Hardware: T-50 Mongoose, VKB STECS, Saitek 3 Throttle Quadrant, Homemade 32-function Leo Bodnar Button Box, MFG Crosswind Pedals Oculus Rift S System Specs: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, RTX 4090, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5-3600, Samsung 990 PRO Modules: AH-64D, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, F-16C, F-15E, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-5E, P-51D, Spitfire Mk LF Mk.
