GKIII Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 My brother and I have been flying the SU25T. Sometimes the plane flies like it should, other times it simply cannot be flown, or brought under control. This happens often enough that it detracts significantly from our enjoyment of trying to master the plane. We understand that if the plane is coming off auto pilot, it can be erratic due to amount trim dialed in by the AP. We also don't put the plane on AP unless it is flying level, hands off all controls. The problem we encounter can happen in flight after flying properly for a few minutes, but 90 percent of the time it occurs when you start a mission where the aircraft is in the air when the mission starts. The mission starts, and the plane is all over the sky. Sometimes after a struggle the aircraft can be brought under control, but usually it just crashes. We are careful to start the flight hands and feet off controls. The plane acts like very large amount of trim is dialed in at start up. Is there anyway to see how much trim might be dialed in when the flight starts? Should any trim be dialed in at start? We have dead zones set in our controls of 10 or above. We use different sticks, throttle and rudder controls. Any thoughts on what we can do to stop this problem would be appreciated.

Isegrim Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 How is your IAS ? Maybe you guys are flying simply to fast. "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
feefifofum Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Hi Gkill, your best bet would be to open the control indicator and check for any errant inputs. DCS automatically binds several buttons and axes when a new controller is connected and this can lead to issues much like you're describing. R-ctrl Enter should open a window in the corner of the screen that shows your control inputs, you can check there to be sure nothing strange is happening when you move your controls. The aircraft should start with neutral trim. As others have suggested, Lalt 3 to engage level flight will also correct any trim issues. Once the aircraft is trimmed, press Lalt 9 to disengage the autopilot system. There are also indicator lights behind the stick for when elevator, aileron, and rudder trim are neutral. HiJack Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 PS! Do not move the stick when in AutoPilot and then disable the autopilot, you will get strange trim out of that. When in Autopilot the best is to not touch the stick at all.
MikeMikeJuliet Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Like feefifofum said, I would check if your axis have multiple binds over several controllers. That has always been the case when I've had similar issues with any aircraft. One thing that can cause this repeatedly is if you remove or change any controller from the USB-ports and start DCS, or at times even if you plug new controllers while DCS is open. All your axis should be bound only on a single controller to make sure this doesn't happen. I hope you get the issue sorted, since the 25T is a very fun aircraft to play around with. GKIII Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Thank you very much, I think this was the problem. I went into the controls screen and the game was picking up all my attached devices, stick, rudder, throttle, G13 and keyboard. In several instances the control axis were mapped to multiple devices. I cleared the mappings for all devices not being used to control the aircraft. Plane is much easier to fly now. Thanks for taking time to reply.
