Hi All! I just got the module and am having a blast learning it. Quite often Ill stick it in active pause to work on some stuff in the cockpit. However pretty consistently if I enable active pause while also flying with autopilot, when i turn off active pause, my beautiful plane pitches up or down so hard that her wings instantly blow off :helpsmilie:

Even if i disable autopilot before turning off active pause it happens

This happen to to anyone else?

People used to say this would happen if the fly by wire system was disengaged. Did you perhaps hit the fbw switch? In any event, it hasn't happened to me.

On a more serious note, it might be just how the autopilot works. When you are in active pause everything around you keeps working/moving including the autopilot. But since none of the input it makes does anything because the aircraft is frozen in time it just continues to drive to the stop. Try to press r-Ctrl + enter to see what happens while in active pause.

it's possible. but strange it doesn't happen with the AP on any other modules. ill do the right ctrl + enter thing a try and see what happens.

Turn OFF autopilot before engaging active pause. :)

tried turning autopilot off before active pause...still crashed and burned. i turned on controls indicator and, sure 'nuff, when active pause is engaged the jet tries to trim itself into oblivion, so when pause is disengaged she rips herself apart.

so now the trick is to find a way to do active pause and not let this happen. anyone think of a solution?

You could try to disengage the FBW, or override or whatever its called.

tried that, but didn't seem to work. unless i'm pressing the wrong button?

It sounds like one of the FBW inner loop integrators is blowing up from the lack of feedback. If I'm right, trim up the aircraft into a steady state condition (in this case fly straight and level until it's done auto trimming) and then hit active pause. Even if your not perfect it should buy you some time before it blows up on you. BTW this happens a lot in the real world when you bring in real flight control computers into the labs for testing. You always have to make sure to unload the inner loop integrators before you pause the sim or it will blow up on you spectacularly.

not sure what integrator loop is, but this sounds about right. if i have the plane in a pretty straight and level state when pause is activated, it takes longer for the trim to flip out and kill me.

but a lot of the time i like to pause it for a while to zoom in on the HDD and stare at all of the symbology, which usually ends up killing me when i unpause *sigh*

Yes this always happens in the Mirage!

I like to think this stops me from "cheating", since in a real world Mirage I couldn't hit "active pause", everything has to be done real time and in good time. It kind of focusses the attention and enhances the adrenaline factor, but that's probably just me? :smilewink:
