Opinions on whether an I5 2500k @ 4.1, 16 gigs of ram and a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB can run VR?

Do you think it could run it decently ....or barely.

Already did and it did say it was a go buuuuut you know how that goes sometimes,,,,Sometimes companies are a little overly optimistic about what your PC can achieve in the real world. I guess I should have said do you think it could run it decently ....or barely.

It all depends on what your prepaired to sacrifice, I struggle to get DCS to run smoothly running at 4.8ghz with a 1080ti on 2.1 and even 1.5 on some missions. I always say get the best you can afford and you can't go wrong, I think the 2500K @ 4.1 will struggle on medium to high settings, so everything on low I'm afraid but it's still worth it in my opinion if you don't want to wait until you can afford something better

Well ...honestly this runs 1.5 pretty smooth and 2.1 pretty well too I mean a few stutters here and there.....This is multiplayer though and in 2.1 I havent been around a lot of other aircraft at one time ....thanks for the reply!

A few things to consider / remember.

With VR you want to have 90 fps as much as you can, or 45fps down low, airfields, busy areas, busy servers etc.

Add to that, that you render two view ports. Not the equivalent to one image across two screens. Its essentially double the workload. Then comes some VR magic in the background, which also takes some performance. Hard to say how much/little that actually is.

So your fps quickly disappear.

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

- Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS.
