I just bought a new Samsung CF791 monitor mainly for the purposes of DCS. I'll just start by saying I've now seen things I never knew existed, the monitor is unbelievable.

One problem that I honestly never even noticed before is banding. When looking at the sky, especially at dawn and dusk, the sky's gradient is separated into bands of color that are really distracting. I guess one problem with a better viewing device, imperfections stand out more.

Is this immediately correctable? If not, is it something that ED recognizes and plans to patch? To my mind it's a pretty big oversight.

It's even worse with night vision goggles, it's as if the skybox and NVG's use a cheap 256 colour range so performance is higher.

P.S: during my time as a tester with ED i did report this but it never got any priority.

They need to implement dithering in the game at the minimum. Without it, we will suffer from this for eternity. And in VR, the issues are magnified 10x what a monitor user sees. DCS is a daylight hours sim for me due to this reason...and the terrible ground lighting....sadly.
