Hans Hartmann Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Hi, I've tried this mssion 3 times, without success. We are supposed to intercept 4 Su-24, but magic never give me the authorization to fire, and after 10/15 minutes i get a gameover because of an unauthorized kill (when i obviously didn't shoot any missiles, and nether did my wingman). Is this a bug or am i missing something ? I feel like this is a problem with the script, the last dialogue is my pilot saying the bandits are coming fast and not turning back, and magic telling me to hold on. Thanks for the answer. 1
feefifofum Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 (edited) Hi Hans, Sorry you're having trouble! We have had one other player report issues with the AI behavior in this mission. We have made some changes to the AI tasking in our internal version which has corrected the issue for the other individual, but unfortunately this change didn't make the release version. Andrei Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Hi, I've had exactly the same problem as you and it took me 4 attempts to complete this mission. At one time approaching WP2, mission failed because one of the Fencers decided to crash on it's own. The script took it as if I fired on him. Then on the fourth attempt I made it, but it was hilarious. So there I am turning WP2 to close in to Fencers. Get a lock, Magic tells me to wait one. At this point they start turning east towards Tbilisi. I know from the prior failed attempts that I should not approach them too close because they start going on offensive then. So I slow down and follow them at the distance. Fencers cruise towards Tbilisi where they bomb the crap out of Vaziani airfield (our home base). Radio is dead silent in the meanwhile. Magic doesn't give a damn (of course, he's from Turkey). At this point tell to myself - "OK, screw that" and move to WP2 hoping it will trigger some other script. Nearly there, I get a message from AWACS (AI) that there's a target 6 miles behind me. Knowing the nasty Fencer behavior, I turn around to them in case they wanna play dirty. And most likely hit their trigger zone, because Magic wakes up and says "fire at will". :pilotfly: I laugh at those slowpokes and turn the Fencers into crumbing spare parts. From there on mission continued with one other intercept. Onward, there were no bugs. baltic_dragon Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Hey Andrei, we have it fixed internally, looks like an unexpected AI behaviour change that came with 1.5.7 (neither us nor the testers didn't experience this before). This will certainly be fixed with the next patch. Glad you finished the mission, though I know how frustrating it can be when you have to do the same thing several times... we'll see what we can do to have it fixed ASAP on release version. Hans Hartmann Posted August 27, 2017 Author Posted August 27, 2017 So the fix worked for me, i could finally shoot down those silly russians :thumbup: BTW, i've noticed that my wingman is not able to manage his fuel consumption, and always end up bailing out before the end of the mission (usually on the way back home). Is this related to the campaign, or is this just the dumb DCS AI ?
feefifofum Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Hey Hans, unfortunately this is the lot of DCS wingmen. :lol: Your best bet is to try to offer him the same consideration you would offer a human player who was really bad at keeping up with you. :) Try to fly at around 300-350 KIAS until he catches up with you after takeoff. Once he's formed up, you should be able to accelerate a bit more. Ditto for rejoins; try to stay out of AB until he's caught up to you. The main issue is he'll run full AB to catch up which obviously sucks down the gas fairly quickly, especially if you're flying at lower altitudes. If you're able to manage your flight well and your wingman survives, you'll often be treated to some extra dialogue in the rest of the mission. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
SuperSix2 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 what's the fix for M03? Been trying like to crazy to get past and either i never get an order to engage after they fire at me or my wingman gets a little trigger happy after awhile and shoots one down?
baltic_dragon Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Hm, until the updated version is released, the best bet would be to get close to Fencers and make them attack and follow you, then drag them towards Gori until you get the "weapons free" order. or Use your guns to destroy the radar stationed at the northern ramp of Tbilisi airport - it seems that despite clear order to engage Gori (ROE: only designated) the Fencers still choose the radar site as their target. Mind you that you will loose combat score. And that we have't tested it ;) For more information, please visit my website. feefifofum Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Hi SuperSix, Unfortunately not much can be done without destroying the friendly RADAR as Dragon suggests. As this will adversely affect your scoring, I'd recommend skipping this mission for the time being until ED are able to release the patch. Trying to drag the Fencers yourself will be difficult with so many more of them than you, and obviously kind of ruins the flow of the mission. :) The boring details: The issue has arisen due to an apparent shift in priority in target sorting for AI; prior to release, the default CAS tasking would cause them to defend themselves but not prioritize other targets over their specifically designated ones unless directly threatened. Unfortunately this changed at some point shortly prior to release and we didn't catch it in time. So the Fencers, rather than following their designated mission, are detecting the RADAR emissions at Tbilisi and going after the emitter. We have submitted a corrected version of the .miz with re-configured AI settings, hopefully it will make it to your hands soon!
