philstyle
In order to reduce the famous Sound RADAR, I paste two proposals below from this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=192493 These proposals are feature reqeusts for the devs, in order to resolve issues with un-realistic sound environment. Proposal ONE is simpler than Proposal TWO, and either option would probably solve the main problems with the "Sound RADAR". Proposal ONE: Add a new difficulty setting called "Realistic Sound Environment" for missions/ servers. This difficutly setting would force the lowering of each user's "outside sounds" volume down to zero whenever their engine is above idle power. It should be scaled according to one's power settings, so that the higher your engine power, the lower the outside sounds volume. While not 100% perfect, it would work well for all but the most unusual of circumstances OR; Proposal TWO: Add a new "difficulty" setting for missions called "realistic environmental & cockpit sound". Enabling this setting would result in the following: 1. Closing the Canopy of any of the WW2 warbirds would force the "environmental sounds" slider down to around 5% for all clients; AND 2. Closing the Canopy of any of the WW2 warbirds would force the "Hear like in Helmet" option to the "on" position for all clients; Proposal two would also require the following other changes: 1. Oxygen effects on pilots would now need to be felt. Currently it seems that the Oxygen systems do nothing. I can fly the Spitfire at 20,000ft with the Canopy open and the Oxygen off. In real life I would be hypoxic by 18,000ft. 2. Having the canopy open in cold air should also have negative effects on the pilot. We shouldn't be able to fly at 15,000ft with the canopy open comfortably. Solty
I much rather see the first option. I think that sounds substitute many other sensory stimuli like vibrations and feel like they are required to nor to overstress the engine and be proficient in flight. And I like my guns loud ;). With the comment about oxygen I agree although with that we would need some indication that we are hurting ourselves. Preferably through both sound and visual representation.
