AG-51_Razor Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 When the Harrier finally makes it's deput, there is no doubt that many eager mission builders will be constructing missions with forward operating bases out in the country somewhere. Landing on the FARP that is presently available in the game will be a fun challenge but taking off from there with a fresh load of bombs and fuel will be an exercise in futility. Has any thought been given to coming up with a small plot or patch of land to act as a FARP that does not have a raised ridhe to taxi over? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shadow_1stVFW Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Sounds like an ED issue. But adding the take off from ground option should solve it as if you set the jet up on a road and build enough around it you can do pretty well. -Shadow Aurora R7 || i7K 8700K || 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s || 2TB M.2 PCIe x4 SSD || GTX 1080 Ti with 11GB GDDR5X || Windows 10 Pro || 32GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2667MHz || Virpil Warbird Base || Virpil T-50 Stick || Virpil MT-50 Throttle || Thrustmaster TPR Pedals || Oculus Rift
uscstaylor Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Would love to see Harrier come out before Christmas. Would make a great gift. Instant buy for me.

Even weighed down during a stovl you will probably need less than full fuel. One of the things I like about this aircraft is that you need to think things through be free the flight to be successful. I've heard that on the blue flag server they managed to get viggens at a farp. Not sure how or what it looks like, so there is hope -Shadow Aurora R7 || i7K 8700K || 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s || 2TB M.2 PCIe x4 SSD || GTX 1080 Ti with 11GB GDDR5X || Windows 10 Pro || 32GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2667MHz || Virpil Warbird Base || Virpil T-50 Stick || Virpil MT-50 Throttle || Thrustmaster TPR Pedals || Oculus Rift
Tackle Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 The Problem is not so much Taking Off at Mission start, but landing, refuelling/ rearming and then Take Off again. And that should work in MP as easy as in SP. I guess an easy solution would be to remove the "has to be at an airfield" requirement for the trucks we already use, so Truck X is within 50m = get fuel, Truck Y is within 50m = get Weapons, etc. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Same concept but the FARP object has a bigger bubble it's effect at. But it near a road and give us a, I don't know 50x50 meter metal grating (simular to the helipads at FARPS actually) we could place on the other side of the road for the jets to taxi onto done. -Shadow Aurora R7 || i7K 8700K || 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s || 2TB M.2 PCIe x4 SSD || GTX 1080 Ti with 11GB GDDR5X || Windows 10 Pro || 32GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2667MHz || Virpil Warbird Base || Virpil T-50 Stick || Virpil MT-50 Throttle || Thrustmaster TPR Pedals || Oculus Rift
Pikey Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Yes. Many people throughout the years. And why we have no decent FARP alternative is precisely because it's not easily possible, given the level of expertise of modders out there. You can change the model, but you must preserve the special ATC characteristics and ground crew, else it's not a rearmable farp for multiplayer and just an object. There's a possibility there is a workaround to rearm, but not ATC, at least heatblur spent a while trying to puzzle it in MP and haven't suceeded, but the level of change may mean rearming at least one day. Object models do not align to ground very well in the 1.5 engine, hence they have all this blockiness about them which you refer to, so they may sink partially into terrain and maintain level. Making models with smooth ramps or flat to the ground is not possible, they end up floating when placed in the editor until they have a close to 45 degree angle at the sides and some depth in a certain ratio that several people have found. The grass field placeholder has been there for a very long time now and no mention of it going live has been uttered. And there's not exactly big engine changes any more, not for th last few years that I recall. So i don't have hope.
