Destroyer37 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Feature Request: The ability to turn on or off (IE NOTAM out of service) NAVAIDS. Something else I would like to see is the ability to jam GPS, essentially forcing an aircraft to use conventional navigation facilities or some other form of NAV. This would allow more mission designers to add another level of difficulty and realism to there mission. 1 Specs:Fractal Design Define R5 Black, ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E, Intel Core i5-8600K Coffee Lake @ 5.1 GHz, MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti 11GB 352-Bit GDDR5X, Corsair H110i, G.Skill TridentZ 32GB (2x16GB), Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500GB SSD

Northstar98 Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 (edited) I'm especially intrigued by possibility to jam GPS... brilliant! I can't see it being exceptionally difficult to simulate - seeing as AFAIK GPS isn't properly simulated (as in like actual RL representation of having actual satellites and computing distances from points in space, just a basic GPS representation) so GPS denial should be relatively straightforward, designate a zone where there's no GPS reception so the device is unusable until jamming in that area ceases. The LT Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I can't see it being exceptionally difficult to simulate - seeing as AFAIK GPS isn't properly simulated (as in like actual RL representation of having actual satellites and computing distances from points in space, just a basic GPS representation) so GPS denial should be relatively straightforward, designate a zone where there's no GPS reception so the device is unusable until jamming in that area ceases. Here in Moscow, Russia, GPS is being jammed right around Kremlin. At first the fix starts to jump somewhat and then it "relocates you" to one of the local airports which is outside the city limits. :) But that's ground jamming. Airborne jamming should prove much more difficult if not impossible, especially since the A-10C uses INS assisted positional fixes.
