Focus on instruments

Flow

Recommended Posts

Cannot find an answer somehow, so making a new thread.

I have an oculus rift CV1 and a very good computer.

Very good sight on both eyes.

The instruments in the cockpit are OK from a distance, but get very very blurry when I go closer to them, like if my eyes were focused in the distance and you tried to look at something close to me.

Looks kind of like an "autofocus" issue.

Not sure if this is normal ? The instruments are completely unreadable from close distance, only when I am in a "normal position". Very strange.

Any information is very welcome :) Thanks :)

HDD for instance : completely unusable in VR, even if I lean over to be closer. It gets completely blurry and unreadable.

Su-27 if that matters. Did not try another aircraft.

to what setting did you put your textures?

Not sure, tried pretty much every preset (high and vr)

Pixel density I tried is between 2 and 2.5

Just tried with every setting absolutely maxxed out.

The image is sharp as hell on the edges and blurry in the middle. If I look at an instrument on the edge of the lens, it is perfectly sharp.

Strange, I hope it is not an hardware issue.

Two of the things I have determined about my Oculus rift CV1 is that it is critical to properly set the IPD (pupil to pupil distance) and then find the sweet spot on the lenses for most clarity, position the headset near there each time you put it on and then make any minor adjustment to put the sweet spot directly in front of your eyes.

When I use the VR Zoom I can read small gauges and cockpit print clearly.

Will try all that when I have time (my daughter is 11 months old, which makes life interesting lol) and report back.

Thank you for your input.
