Hi all,

Im doing the weapons training mission in A10C. At first I couldn't understand why the SPI was in mid air at WP2 but then in another thread somebody explained that the SPI was the elevation of the steer point. OK thats fine, a pain but fine. So then when I got to WP3 soft targets, the SPI was on the ground, great!. But then when I flew over the target area the SPI changed with the new steer point 4. Now heres the thing. When I changed the steer point back to 3 to bring the SPI back it was in the air, at elevation not on the ground! Please explain why, and how can I stop this.

Thanks

Are you using the tgp as soi? And are you China hat aft long'ing to slave tgp to strpt? If so, are you sure you didn't then slew the tgp at all, which would adjust the spi?

Just trying to cover the basics before really diving in to a possible deeper problem. :smilewink:

Do you mean China hat fwd long? If so I think this is what I done. But I don't understand why this caused the problem. Thank you btw

China hat forward long slaves all to spi but aft long slaves tgp to current steerpoint. There might be an issue slaving all to spi if there is no spi set, I forget if the steerpoint is set as spi by default or not?

Oh right, thanks I didn't know that. Im not sure if this is what is happening though.

What I done instead was made a mark point on the ground and then made that a SPI. It works but I still don't know why this happened.

You can also set the elevation manually to the ground at the waypoint page on the CDU. And on the FPL (Flightplan) page you can disable the automatic steerpoint change. After that just slew the SOI to the SPI and you're golden. You can allways verify wich SOI is the SPI generator in the lower left corner of the HUD.
