I have a reasonable PC running a Vive VR headset: GTX1080, 12GB RAM, i7-6700HG CPU @ 2.6 GHz , Windows 10.

I have run lots of VR games including Elite Dangerous without problem.

I tried DCS world on 1.5 in VR , it ran well and I liked it so decided to buy DCS 2 Normandy/WW2 objects/Spitfire from the Eagle store.

I can run Normandy on the 'Low' preset in VR, with pixel density at 1.0 and the Steam VR Supersampling at 1.5 - it runs ok and looks reasonable.

As soon as I use any other preset such as Medium or Virtual, the game crashes with a mix of out of memory messages or 'DCS.exe has stopped working' when I load any plane up for free flight.

I opened a ticket with Eagle support, and after checking the crash logs and my DxDiag log they are unable to help me and said I should post here.

Is this normal? Does anyone have any suggestions?

In other games when I load the graphics up too much they slow down and get jerky, not crash.

I have turned off anything dragging on PC resources such as Vipre antivirus and the WD backup engine.

I do not understand, I thought by having pixel density set at 1.0 that would turn off in-game Supersampling and I could therefore run the Steam VR SS at 1.5?

How I understand it is you can either turn it up to 1.5 in steam VR settings OR in game but you don't want to do both.

I think he is only using one setting StandingCow. I think when he said "I tried DCS world on 1.5 in VR" he meant version 1.5.

Also...

With how SuperSampling works in Steam VR... 1.5 in Steam is actually equivalent to 1.25 in DCS. So if you like 1.5 in DCS, Use 2.0 in Steam. <--- but only use one of those... Not both.
