Kuky Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Check out this thread over at the AMD forums. http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=65211&st=0 This program seems to be pretty good... even more, you're able to set CPU affinity for nut just any program, but windows services also! I have it now installed, and it's working fine... BUT for some reason If I set all windows services (I haven't tried them one by one) when I try to start LockOn, the game doesn't load, it gets some error and crashes back to desktop. PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
G3 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Kuky, sounds like just what the doctor ordered, full-ish control over what goes where, would like to hear if you get this sorted for lockon, cheers ggg.
Kuky Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I got this sorted out now... there are few services you can see running when using this program, which don't show up in Windows Task Manager... so setting these to work on 1 core made LockOn crash to desktop while loading. I believe this service is System.exe and it has to be on both CPU's. I have set now most of the services to run on Core 1 while LockOn and hypperLobby are set to run on Core 2. Most windows programs are still left for both CPU's since I won't be running LockOn if I am using them. So what I have set for Core 1 are services like (I have only around 16 services runing after booting up): - CLI.exe (ATI driver stuff) - svchost.exe services (5 of these are running on my system) - services.exe - csrss.exe some I can't set to run on 1 core automatically even though I set these for CPU 1 (It does work if I start Setaffinity.exe every time after booting up, but that's kinda' anoying) services like: - lsass.exe - smss.exe - winlogon.exe You could also set explorer.exe service to run on one CPU and if you do that every program you start (after you're logged in) will start with same CPU affinity, even if you set it to run on another CPU... I don't know why this works like this... so I leave explorer.exe to run on both CPU's. Overall... this program is quite good... I intend to use it form now on. :D PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Kuky Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I want to add also... I've been flying today for few hours now with this setup and LockOn is not crashing or anything... but I didn't see any performance difference at all... there are no stutters either...well only when there are many objects visible like near large cities...the frame rate still goes down to mid 10's... but that's just LockOn :D PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
