OsageCowboy Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 So I have heard about a lot about this "Hyperlobby" program. Is this the preferred method for playing online? What about voice coms online, does Hyperlobby support that? If not, is TeamSpeak what everyone uses to communicate online? Please advise, and it's always appreciated!!!!
ED Team Groove Posted January 19, 2007 ED Team Posted January 19, 2007 You have to use external programs like TS or Vent. I usually connect directly to the Server IP instead of using hyperlobby though. When you connected, choose your prefered side ( blue / red ), select your jet, payload and hit the fly button. Usually you will be placed on the parking area but a mission designer can put you already into the sky. Have fun ! Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
S77th-konkussion Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Yep- either way will work. You can direct connect or use HL. HL is better in many ways. It's easier to connect- many steps are done automatically. You can see who else in in the rooms. They can see you. The ready room has the chat. However some people would still rather direct-connect. Whatever. Definitely use the TS channel that is almost always provided by the hosts. Not using it is no different that flying with no radio- don't expect people to type out help, tips, tactical situation, traffic on the ground and around airports, and everything else. That's tiring to say the least.. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
bogusheadbox Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Hyperlobby is where you will find most of the players easily. Unfortunately hyperlobby does not host voice coms. You will still need to use a program for that. The most common being Teamspeak. But the good thing abou hyperlobby. When you click on a server, an information box will pop up. Usually in that box will be a voice communications server for you to use. Happy hunting Edit (i see i am a bit slow today. Others have come to the rescue)
S77th-konkussion Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Further elaboration/things to know... Q: Am I ready to click on the FLY button? (multiplayer) A: A quick pre-flight checklist common to all. 1. Have I gotten on the appropriate Teamspeak channel? 2. Is my stick & track IR running with the correct profiles? 3. Have I read the briefing of the mission, and/or reviewed the map of the mission area? 4. Do I know where to go, my purpose, and how to get home? 5. Do I have the loadout that I need for my role? (make sure that NO illegal weapons are loaded) Click "save" (payload screen) if lit after changes. 6. Go. Taken from the FAQ section of my noob help desk... http://konkussion.proboards60.com/index.cgi?board=lomac&action=display&thread=1137193042 [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]

S77th-konkussion Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 you guys are on the money, as usual. any word on whether or not hyperlobby will try to utilize voice coms in a future release? Only Jiri knows- but I tend to lean towards "no". I'm sure things are better now- but integrated voice comms have traditionally been big resource hogs that hurt online play. (think V.O.N. from Nova-illogic) Besides- if the room goes down for some reason, using something separate like TS means that your comms are not effected and everyone can speak up.("Yup- frozen here too", etc etc) Then you think about having separate channels, some other features and the benefits continue to add up.
