rattler Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 How do I get the 1.12a download for lockon gold. I am registered on the UK site but will not let me download. Keeps asking me to register. I do have an english download but I believe I have to have the U.S. version of the 1.12a download. Can anyone help . Cheers

I got the second download that said English, the first said UK, Germany and France. I assume the english download is for the U.S. version of Gold. Is that correct. Wish they would make it easier, all they would have to say U.S. english and it would be a no brainer. Really appreciate your help. You seem to be always there when needed. Thanks.
SuperKungFu Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 IIRC any 1.12a patch for the cd version would work with lock on gold, and/or the flaming cliffs cd. So yes in this case you should download the english version of 1.12a. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Zacam Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 As this is the most recent thread for patch 1.12a and I cannot find (within since 1.12a was released till now) any posts on the matter, I'm placing my question here. I have Lock On Gold US CD box set. Dowloaded the appropriate 1.12a patch for English Gold CD USA. I previously ran the game under the original Lock On install and again after I installed Flaming Cliffs. Since installing the 1.12a patch, I notice several training missions are now flaged as being "1.1 Only" and while they _do_ run, they encounter inaccuracies. (Such as: The training mission for the Launching of Mavericks is tagged as 1.1. You can run it, but when the "pilot" is supposed to acquire lock on with the Mavericks, the convoy is not actually being targeted and the missiles are just being wasted.) The training mission for landing has the taxi turn towards the parking space AFTER the actual portion of the strip that it's pressumably supposed to taxi on. So, what changes happend in 1.12a to break these missions, what other missions got broken (I've only so far looked at the training missions as I've just gotten the game) and if they were aware that these missions were going to break, why not include fixed missions in the patch?
Prophet Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I believe it has something to do with the way track information is recorded. And I believe new ones werent made, because they take an awfully long time to get them right.
SuperKungFu Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 you could always download the video format of the training tracks http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=50&lang=en&PHPSESSID=3048d90f67bcec582e9e212f1cadc6bd [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Zacam Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Even though the relative distances are marginal? Are the files pertaining to the track information editable? I like the training missions for the fact that you can run it once to see how it's done, run it again to do it yourself. And while they don't have a need for significant replay value, it's still moderately irksome that they're off by the small margin that they are. Thank both of you though for the rapid response. 1
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 As prophet said, it is to do with how tracks are made - only recording key/stick inputs and recreating the flight - this technique makes for small size track files, but means that patch changes can sometimes (like in this case) mean that tracks wont playback as intended on later versions. I think most folks run the training tracks whilst they have v1.1, then apply the v1.12a patch. Alternatively watch the video version (from the link that SuperKungFu gave) then fly the mission. Use OPEN MISSION then use the bottom left pulldown menu TYPE OF FILE and choose "Track files", navigate the file structure to the particular training track you want and FLY.
