Nealius Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I don't seem to have any problem with short missions, but I made a rather long mission with 10 waypoints, total flight time about one-hour. I did a full alignment on the ramp at Nellis. GPS position of my parking spot is N36°13'53" W115°02'45" entered correctly before initiating INS align. Full align until STS countdown reached zero. Upon takeoff my waypoints were totally wrong. Wrong direction and wrong distance, typically hundreds of miles farther than they should have been. See attached screenshot. I also attached the mission file for reference.
Azrayen Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 GPS position of my parking spot is N36°13'53" W115°02'45" entered correctly My guess would be that this is not accurate description of what happened. Been there, done that. Retry, perhaps?:D
firmek Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 My guess would be that this is not accurate description of what happened. Been there, done that. Retry, perhaps?:D Yeap. Another thing could be that the INS alignment got degraded. I've also experienced an issue with entering values into INS using a keyboard rather than clicking. It seems there is a problem with key binds and although a keyboard key is bound correctly to "[N]/2", hitting it results in South being selected. Interesting thing is that afterwards when entering coordinates it works correctly resulting in "2". No issue using mouse. mhe Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Also be aware that the Mirage INS expects the values in DD:MM.xx (100ths of degree minute) whilst the coordinates from mission editor and your post are given in DD:MM:SS. If you enter the second variant into the INS directly without conversion, you will run into a little position errors. Not drastic as drastic as you describe, but noticeable. | i9 12900K | 64GB DDR5-6000 | STRIX RTX 4090 OC | LG 38GN950 38" | | Hanns-G HT225HPB | TIR 5 & Varjo Aero | Virpil Throttle & Stick | TM TPRs | You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.
Nealius Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 (edited) Entered coordinates as follows for the proper format: N36°13'53" W115°02'45" I seriously doubt I inputted them incorrectly, as I've input the same coordinates (in other missions) about 20 times without error....but I will try again.
