I just purchased a set of DJI Goggles. These are used for flying DJI drones and getting a first person view through the camera. This is much much clearer than using a phone or tablet. These things are amazing. They have a resolution of 1920x1080 per eye, and are crystal clear. No SDE. They are completely wireless with a battery built in and no cords hanging from your head. Unfortunately they do not (for now at least) work as VR goggles but I sure hope someone comes out with something like them for VR. Its at least a glimpse of what is possible.

One thing is for sure - technology, will continue to advance.

I am anxious to see what lies ahead for VR a few years down the road.

The DJI Googles project a single image onto two displays. VR depends on two images, one per eye, to get 3D depth perception. Different tech.
