Within the sim there are small ground areas that have a couple of working tracked cranes and 2 tall gantry type cranes, working I assume on a new building.

 

Anyone know if you can isolate those cranes and create new Objects with them, they could really enhance any airfield, building new hangars and that sort of thing.

 

I am always trying to find new ways to add to the scenery, this would be a useful addition.

The objects you refer to are located in the bazar\terrain\structures\high folder;

 

KRAN_BASH.CMD

KRAN-STROI.CMD

KRAN_PORT.CMD

 

 

The easy way to use them is replacing exsisting objects already available in the mission editor (i.e. WC.cmd or ). That way by placing a WC-object in the mission editor gives you a Crane in game. (note that wc's allready available in the scenery will be replaced by cranes aswell)

 

The hard way is editing the scenery files wich I don't recommend.

 

Search for 'trees' in the Mod section and you should find a tuto on how to replace objects in the mission editor with new ones.

Do you happen to know which file names correspond to the Bunker and the Pill Box, I will try using those for the other 2 cranes.

'dot.lom' and 'dot2.lom' if I remember correctly.

Mbot is correct about those names.

I'm not sure if replaceing them with the KRANxxx.cmd file will work but it doesn't hurt to try. Remember to make a backup (preferbly of the whole folder) before you start renaming and copying files

MBot was right, I had not got that far at the time. Have done it now, 3 cranes and 10 buildings so far, working on another 2 but having problems finding objects that will not conflict with the existing maps too much.

 

Great forum. loads of guys out there willing to help with all sorts of things.
