But in the climax AMD farts!

While browsing sites for components research for my new PC I came across this:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/02/13/amd_crossfire_xpress_3200_chipset_for_core_2_rolls/index.html

Jump to the conclusions. Looks like they making their best to go bankrupt.

Me and polecat made a prediction that AMD would sink after aquisition of ATI and so far AMD is delivering on that prediction like a charm. AMD has made decisions error after decision error with no end in sight.

Bad Q4 2006 results, no longer competitive in any CPU front while is locked in a loosing price war without a response anytime soon. Bought ATI thats late to deliver its next card, and now has to accumulate losses with the merge cost at the same time it launches a MOBO for intell Core duo CPU's (rather late) that has nothing better to offer for a premium price. WOW

I couldnt have given a worse marketing plan without studying economics myself. Congrats.

Yeah its sad.

But you know, things have a way of turning around, but boy are they cutting it close. I mean really Intel only made a bad decision with the P4. But before that, its pretty much as it is now.

The thing that I am worried about, is that with the way the market is now, AMD needs to invest a lot in R&D to make a competative processor, and then needs to invest about 10 more BILLION, to build the potential Fab in New York to compete with Intel volume wise.

I like to cheer for the underdog, but I think Intel delivered a hay-maker with the C2D.

Yeh... Recall though, this chipset was in development before the merger... and in terms of OEM builds, ATI will still want native graphics solutions regardless of CPU maker... that means intel... Someone please tell me that that still holds? lol

AMD/ATI is not a lost cause... Even with zero successes, I give them 3 more quarters till they have to do some "save this ship" measures.

Anyway candy for the fanboy: http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q4/quad-fx/index.x?pg=4

Indeed AMD is heavily burdened but let’s hope it will not take 5 year to catch up with Intel

Surprise but AMD achieved already equal 3DMark06 score but indeed their setup almost smoked the 1000W supply :D.
