Majesco Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Let's take a look, in a simple mission with 2 aircrafts only: my plane - F-15C and the enemy - Su-27 But on the F-15C's TEWS i saw the symbol of Mig-29 instead of Su-27. Why ? Is it an aircraft identification bug of LO ?
ViperEagle Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 IIRC- It's because the SU-27 and Mig-29's radar output and emmissions are so similar they appear as the same icon.
GGTharos Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 That's right. It isn't a bug - the flanker and the mig use radrs which have many comon parts and characteristics, so the RWR cannot distinguish them. The symbol chosen for them is the 29. Pilotasso Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Just a note here: Despite being similar, the Su-27's radar signal is stronger that the mig-29, so if you ever had both locking you at the same distance the Su-27's icon will be closer to center. .
Joe Kurr Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Just curious, what kind of symbol does the RWR display if it detects an unknown (new) radar? Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
nscode Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 UF0 :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
GGTharos Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Yep, basically :D You'd probably get 'U'. Not applicable in LO. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
