Hi folks,

I updated to DCS 2.5 last week but I have not been able to start DCS since then. I had both 1.5.8 and OpenAlpha 2.2 installed previously.

The error I am getting is a generic Windoze Error ( DCS,exe Application Error).(attached) It goes through the updater sequence but then crashes each time with the same error.

I have run Windows /scannow from powershell and it reports all .dll files are intact and operable. I have run the DCS_updater.exe cleanup and DCS_updater.exe repair several time at it says it has been successful each time.

I have also tried running DCS 1.5.8 again and it comes up with the same error.

Is this a Windows system file issue or is it a corrupted DCS componet?

I have attached my updater log and the only dcs.log in my saved games directory. I am presuming in is not actually getting into DCS because there is only the one log. I have spend the last 3 days on this and tried a miriad of things and fixes...all to no avail. Any help most appreciated.

If the "dcs_updater repair" reports that the program is ok, then it must be something on your settings which are stored on /your user/saved games/dcs.openbeta/ ... to check if its that, rename the folder to dcs.openbeta.bak and then try to run dcs again, it should recreate the folder with standard values.

If the error clears, then it was something on your settings .. exit dcs and then copy your controls setup back from the backup, they are at /dcs.openbeta.bak/config/input ... copy that folder's content into the new saved games folder to recover your hotas settings.

Thanks for the reply Rudel, I am currently away at work for a couple of weeks but will give this a go when I get home. It has got me thinking and could be something to do with my display settings??

Cheers
