Snacko Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Hoping for Fixes and a new Stock Release 2.5: This is a beta, so I know it's not finished yet. But I'm getting to the point of not wanting to play if I get freezes and crashes mid-flight. And I can't join most Multiplayer servers, which can also freeze and crash. Why even play if it locks up right when making an attack or approach? That is so annoying!:huh::wallbash: I know I can play the stock game. So I'm being patient. I am just getting frustrated because as you see below there are issues. Are many others having these problems? If this is just me, or a few of us. Then maybe it's "our" systems that need fixing?? :dunno: Is there a list of known issues that ED is known to be addressing? That would be helpful at least to know it's a game issue, or my pc's issue.. Crash on Exit: I've had the game crashing for over 6 months every time I close the game. That's not so bad if it just happens when I exit. But it happens. And the log and Windows Event Viewer indicate it's: DX11Backend.dll ntdll.dll Freezes and Crashes: This often doesn't write anything to the log. But if it does it seems to also be: DX11Backend.dll Multi-Player Framerate very slow: It seems to be very slow on servers with high pings. But I have not done any tests. I do know that it never used to be this way in 1.5, and I also don't remember it being as bad in 2.2. But it was slow. But I could scroll through the aircraft list with a lot of lag and select a plane. While this seems to be a 'new' issue, it has been around for a while in 1.5. It just seems a bit worse now. Whereas before it was bad lag. There is no log or Windows Event to report for this. What I've done to try and fix these problems: Uninstalled all of my Mods. Ran DCSUpdate.exe cleanup Ran DCSUpdate.exe repair Renamed my "..\Saved Games\DCS" folder and the game built a new one. Uninstalled all of my Mods. Uninstalled all of my C++ Redistributables and reinstalled with the latest versions. Updated my ASUS BIOS from the 2 year old 1601 to the latests 3703. Full System Scan with Kaspersky AV. Reinstalled DirectX ** ** There is no 'download' to install DirectX anymore. It's part of the Windows 10 install. Since I have been getting the DX11Backend.dll as the culprit for most of my crashes, I wondered if part of DirectX might be corrupt. So, this is stupid. DirectX is not in your Windows/Settings/Apps list. So, you cannot uninstall or repair it! The best I could find was an obscure post about running a DirectX Web installer and then a June 2010 Redistributable that would then look at the version that I have and do something? Next: My next step is to update my graphics drivers again, and test. Then, download and reinstall everything. I don't know what else to do... ED Team BIGNEWY Posted February 20, 2018 ED Team Posted February 20, 2018 Hi Snacko thanks for the info ED are working on a memory problem that seems to be more prevalent in multiplayer. This is why ED have not pushed it to the release branch yet. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Snacko Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Thanks BIGNEWY. Do you know if the other issues I am having are common, or is it just me? It would be helpful to know if it's my pc or not. Mainly the freezing and crashing. And the apparent DX11Backend.dll and/or ntdll.dll possibilities? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted February 20, 2018 ED Team Posted February 20, 2018 They seem to be common, and related to the memory issue. You should see your RAM increase until it either freezes or crashes. Dont worry ED are working on it. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? feefifofum Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I have a very similar rig, only with a slightly older i7, a little less RAM, and a non-TI 1080. Haven't seen any of those particular issues and ran a 3-hour 12-man op with a few hundred units and heavy scripting on HF3 last Sunday. I know it stinks to be one of the ones having problems, but 2.5 isn't a disaster for everybody and ED are working hard to fix the issues so that everyone can enjoy it. Video drivers etc. all up to date on your end? Snacko Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Well, that give me an idea. I have ASUS RamCache running on some of my memory. I'm going to disable that and see.. Thx. Snacko Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Hmmm.. Here is just one test after turning off my Asus RamCache, which I had set to cache 30gig(half) of my memory for my D: drive. The most amazing thing was I Exited DCS without a crash for the first time in forever! :cheer3nc: As you can see after 20 mins, my Memory use went down.. This is not a comparison of memory use before/after RamCache was turned off. This is interesting though and I will do that test later today.
