aleader Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) I tried all that renaming shaders and switching shaders stuff to no avail when I was seeing neon green trees. The only thing that helped was a complete wiping of DCS from every area of my PC I could find (I did not have any mods installed, and it was a very recent reinstall of DCS). When I did that, no more stuttering in 1.5.8 (runs at a stable 60-100fps) and the neon green trees were fixed (with deferred shading enabled). However, the stuttering remained in 2.5. The FPS is still about 45 - 60, but horrible stuttering. This may be because I have 8GB RAM, but I'm waiting until there are some patches to the engine before I go upgrading. I was also told the stuttering in 1.5.8 was caused by RAM or not having it installed on an SSD...that was wrong advice. RAM prices are almost as stupid as vid card prices right now. I don't think it's the 3GB on the vid card as 1.5.8 rarely uses more than 39% of it now, but I'll test when they release. Bad timing for DCS to upgrade an engine if it forces users to upgrade vid cards...most aren't going to do it right now. Luckily I think we can stay at 1.5.8 if needed (yes, I know we won't be able to do multiplayer...doesn't bother me at present). I'm kicking myself for not buying about 10 GTX 1070's when I upgraded a few years ago. But I have a wife and kids, so that was never going to happen ;) I run 1.5.8 at 1080p with everything maxed/on except trees (at about 16,000) My specs: Win 7/64 Pentium G3258 @4.2 Ghz 8GB Ram GTX 1060 3GB 1TB WD Blue HDD (system on SSD) Saitek X45 Hotas Trackhat Edited March 10, 2018 by aleader "I mean, I guess it would just be a guy who you know, grabs bananas and runs. D.Va Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Agreed OP is not being fair, his GPU is not fit for purpose, you should get a gtx 1080 ti OP and you won't have the problems you are encountering. And you'll pay for it? Read my DCS 2.5 Optimisation Guide (version 2.5.4): https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3828073
Oban Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Bad timing for DCS to upgrade an engine if it forces users to upgrade vid cards...most aren't going to do it right now So you're suggesting that DCS should not have released a product due to market prices of another product, that may or may not be needed to run the sim? There are PLENTY of people, myself included, who don't run 2.5 on 10 series graphics cards, who also don't have any of the issues the OP has. There are plenty of comparisons, and tweaks posted that could easily have read through as well to optimise their game for better results. The harsh facts are that if you want to run ANY of the latest sims and games in their FULL glory, you're going to need the hardware to achieve the best results. Minimum specs are a guidance, not an absolute. AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz 32 GB RAM 2 TB SSD RTX 4070 8GB Windows 11 64 bit

Minimum specs are a guidance, not an absolute. Yikes. That's not what I'm saying at all. It's simply bad timing. Obviously they had no control over it. It would be ridiculous to suggest otherwise. And I run several of the latest and greatest games in 'FULL' glory with a 1060 I bought over 2 years ago...no upgrade required. DCS 2.5 needs to be better optimized and according to the developers, it will be, as they are working on it. "I mean, I guess it would just be a guy who you know, grabs bananas and runs.
