Ok, I can beat a 1 on 1 battle. (Me as an Su-27 and the enemy an F-15 at level "good")

BUT

I cannot beat a two on two engagement. I usually have it set as evenly as posibable. The enemy Eagles are Good and Average and my wing man is also average. (I consiter my self "good" as i can beat one one on one) But this engagement usualy results in a fatality 9 out of 10 tries. Can someone help? I liked Ironhands 1.02 toutorial Clipped Eagles, but like the warning said, it would be of limited value to those using 1.12a as i am. Ironhand: could you possibly make another one of those 1 on 2 engagement toutorials for FC?

Is there any advise anyone could offer? Right now, i am frustrated beyond comprihension and have given lockon a break for tonight to cool down.

Thanks.

You have to coordinate the attack with your wingman. Tell him to take one target and you take the other. The wingman usually misses, but at least the other eagle is kept occupied until you can take him out with an ET. Always keep a mental note of where both eagles are at any given time.

Keep in mind that the wingman usually falls back some distance when he is told to engage a target, so don't rush ahead or else both eagles will be engaging you.

2 on 2 is almost as easy as 1 on 1. It's 2 on 1 that's sort of tricky...

Ok... ya, i try to fall back wit the my wing man. The AI is so dumb so it's hard to coordinate the attack. and it's soo hard to keep track of the eagles while watching to make sure your not loosing radar lock and keeping an eye on the signalstrength indicator so that you know when to pull.

that's usually my problem. I can usually evade the first missile by pulling on the 2nd to last bar on the signal strength indicator on the TWD. if i dont, i usually pull too early and the missile has enough time to menouver. but by the time the second missile comes at me, i'm focousing at getting LA and not concintrating on the missile signal strength and it hits me.

well, thanks for the advice. let me cool down tonight and i'll try again in the morning.

BTW, are ther seporite key commands for chaff and flares or do they have to be dispersed together?

Your wish is my command....almost. No voiceover: 2v2: Su-27 vs F-15 (V1.12a).

As already mentioned by Poopskadoop, you need to coordinate your attack with your wingman. He and I pincered in order to separate our adversaries. Once their jamming strobes began to differentiate, I was able to assign him his target.

Chaff only=INSERT. Flares only=DELETE.

ok, I just checked it out. nAgain, another awesome toutorial, Ironhand. The Princer left and right commands help out too I suppose. I shoulf have thought of that.

1v2

Had a minutes before leaving for work this AM. Here's an example of 1v2 (Su-27 vs F-15). Again, no voiceover: 1v2: Su-27 vs F-15.

Here's a bit of explanation of why I did what I did. This is appropriate for the AI because they are VERY accommodating. Flying online would be tougher. Since the enemy is jamming, I have two strobes on my HUD. My problem is to determine which aircraft is closer before burn through. That's why I broke to the right early on and kicked my speed up. As I mentioned, the AI is very accommodating. Since they always use an STT lock (even in the F-15), you can use the strobing on the HUD and the Beriosa (RWR) to determine who is closer.

Here's how it works. In this track, the aircraft closest to the center of the HUD happened to be the lead aircraft during their attack. I knew that because both the Primary and Secondary threats remained superimposed on the Beriosa. (The closest source that has you locked is designated as Primary in this case.) That meant that the jamming strobe closest to the center of my HUD was the closest to me laterally.

Had the F-15 to the left been closer, the Beriosa would have differentiated them for me positionally. I was racing to the right. If the left target were closer, he would have been designated 'Primary' and the green dot just to his right on the Beriosa would have lit up. Since that didn't happen, I knew that that the strobe closest to HUD center was the one I had to tackle first.

From that point on it's a set piece attack against the AI. You just have to keep the tactical picture in your head so that you know where both aircraft will be at all times. Against human opponents...well...um...it's a bit harder. :)

Ok, again, nice toutorial.

One question. How do you move the TD box in the HUD so fast? That would have saved me so many times before.

EDIT: those are great toutorials. you should add voiceovers to them and put them on your site. :D then everyone could see them.

You can bind it to the mouse.

Move the mouse to position the box, then left-click to lock (atleast, that's my set-up atm)

Here is just another F-pole OneOnTwo tutorial done by me!

Description: 1x Su-27 versus 2x F-15C in ACE (skill excellent).

(F-15C's loaded with 4xAIM9, 4xAIM-120, 1x fuel)

Zip file Includes mission and track file! (version FC 1.12a)

Get it here: http://users.belgacom.net/gc363831/fc/1_su27_vs_2_F15c_ace.zip

A) The 1st F-15C was shut down with ER by executing a perfect (Ironhand)F-pole maneuver.

B) The 2nd F-15C was on my six as a result of action A (The famous TucksonSonny maneuver was used to get him anyway too by ER :D )

Remember you can accelerate the track with <crtl>-a (or <ctrl>-q)

and decelerate with <shft>-a (<shft>-q) if you don’t want to see the take-off and the landing!

I wonder if you guys can pull of the second one in style.

(The famous TucksonSonny maneuver is not always successful :D )

Well Aeroscout, you are not the only friggin'retard in here. A friend and I have been training this last few days, (2 SU-27 vs 2 F-15c that is) so nice timing on your thread.

We were already doing it as descibed, but we encounter another problem... those 27ERs just won't hit, from far, from close, just no luck.

Any suggestions on increasing hit chance? My friend was practicing some offline and shot 4x an ER on a target, 4 misses (of course not wham wham wham wham, but with time separation, retards aren't that dumb ;))

Last, totally off-topic, that's what tards are good at ;), the idea is get the a-pole pretty small, and the f-pole as close to the a-pole as possible? (by turning left or right)

Thanks in advance,

Yours,

Sven aka Storm.i

Are you breaking Radar lock? the ERs can only hit if there guided all the way in. It's the AIM-120s that you have to watchout for. there ARH, which means they dont need the radar lock durring the entire flight.

Any way, thanks so much everyone. (especially Ironhand) I just tried your techniques and they worked like a dream. Thanks.

Sometimes the lock breaks, and then it's obvious they miss of course...

But it's not always the break of the lock that causes the miss.

But you bring me to a new question, how to be sure to keep the lock, fly straight isn't an option of course, sometimes the lock just seems to disappear, while within the radar limits, really frustrating.

What version of lockon are you flying? if you have 1.12a, then you have a dot in the HUD that represents the radar antenna. dont let thet circle get too close the edge of the HUD or the rarar will nolonger be able to track. sometimes they break lock with their jammers. this is rare though 'cause by this time, you've burned through.

Be in a look up situation. Be lower than your target and your hit rate will go up. More clutter in a look down situation.

True, but then the range is decreased aswell. Almost all of the time I fire, I'm around 3000m, and guess the F-15 is at 1500m, I turn away and dive. High doesn't seem perfect, but low neither, so that's quite tricky. At least tonight we got them both, so it's possible we know now ;), but we have to practice more to make it a 100% win.

To keep you busy, what to do if you get in close range and have something like a Sparrow inbound. I'm quite good in evading Amraams now, but at, well lets call it medium range, what to do against does sparrows. It's quite hard to outmanouvre them because you are just too close. AIM-9's aren't that much of a thread at close range, but sparrows are very nasty at medium range.

Thanks again for the great help.

Yours,

Sven

yup, the sparrow is just like the R-27ER. (but with shorter range.) force him to do the same thing he's trying to get you to do. it's a contest to see who can make the other one loose lock first. Just keep him so busy that he will be forced to break his lock on you.

Better to keep an eye on the MFD (or SFD?)

Your radar should be able to track a certain number of degrees off the edge of the HUD.

And to storm, as Ironhand mentioned, stay below the eagles, or otherwise make sure that you can dive below their altitude fast enough to prevent them from beaming your missile. There is no other reason why you should be losing lock in most cases.
