I use chuck's guide as a checklist for starting up

While on the tarmac in multiplayer prior to moving any switches i'll call the ground crew to rearm the aircraft since it always is unloaded.

Once that's complete i'll start running through the list for start up.

Once I reach the point where i'll hit engine starter, I'll click it I hear the noise sort of start but it won't do anything, Blades won't spin the engine RPM on the MFCD shows 0%

I'll do exactly the same start procedure without any weapons loaded and it will start up fine no problems and the ground crew will load the weapons on after.

It just seems to be affected by having the pylons loaded.

I can't tell if i'm doing something wrong or if this is a bug.

As of writing this I haven't tested to see if this happens in single player.

did you move the throttle prior to startup?

Hey Jezza,

If you've done everything by the book and the engine won't start, I think you may have moved your throttle inadvertently and misaligned it with the OFF position. In that case, make sure you throttle back as much as possible, then click on the "fuel cutoff" lever (just next to the throttle and the parking brake lever) to set it to the OFF position. The fuel cutoff lever will only be clickable if your throttle is in the correct "idle" position... otherwise the click spot will never appear.

Check page 16 on the guide to see where the "Fuel Cutoff" lever is.

I noticed that the throttle lever positions are never synced in the Harrier upon first mission start of the DCS runtime. I always have to pull it back by raising the fuel cutoff lever on the throttle, otherwise I'd always run into the same problem. When starting DCS, I put my right throttle lever (for throttle) to idle 0% and the left one (for nozzle angle) to 100%, but DCS doesn't get it at it's first sim start.

Quick procedure to do this: Move the throttle axis a bit and pull it back to idle, then hit RWin + T twice. Done. It's the first thing I do when I start doing stuff with the AV-8B. I just have that mapped to the throttle axis cutoff switch (TM WH), so I just have to play the throttle, pull it back to the cutoff position and move it forward to the throttle range again.
